Just heard on Sky Sports news that he is in talks with Man City but the 3m price tag appears to be on the high side. I think it would be an excellent move if it happens.

I was in the Gym last summer and there was this kid there with his mate, think he was about 14/15, and he was asking for advice on lifting weights as he wanted to bulk up. He would be first choice at Man City, there's no other naturally left sided players at Eastlands. Sibierski filled in there on occasion last season, but he's preferred position is up front. There was rumours floating around on some message boards over the last 2 weeks or so, but they were more of the "who can we bring in to play left wing" variety, with the cash from selling Distin to Boro, it looks likely that Reid may well move to Eastlands.

Cause I heard a very similar converstation there too with a League of Ireland player chatting to 2 young guys about the same stuff. Are you a League of Ireland player Bazmo

does it not effect them in later life? when they push themselves too much when their body is only still developing. (like gary kelly at leeds) Reid does look a bit overweight alrite. pity as he has always looked like a player who could genuinely unlock teams. he was class agaisnt Israel at home in the first 20 mins. I know games are played over 90 but the basic talent seems to be there. would it not make sense for the FAI not take a more proactive approach in advising players on their careers? talk to michael kennedy about taking a role?

Jaysus!!! Hell no!! I go to the gym quite alot but I'd never make it as a footballer, plus I'm too old for it at this stage.

Yes and No Depends on a lot of different factors.

It's not really up to the FAI to look after players with regards to nutrition and general lifstyle matters. It's up to the clubs that they are "owned" by to do that. (Maybe "owned" is the wrong word, "contracted to" is probably a better description). The FAI merely borrow the players from the respective clubs. It's the clubs that pay their wages after all.

He's just signed a 4 year deal at Charlton. Bit of a step down but at least Premiership

It's a good move for him.

Does he look to have lost weight in the photo on the Charlton site or have they given him a shirt that's a couple of sizes too big to make it look that way

Charlton is a progressive club and I think Dowie is a good coach who will get the best out of Reid.

Plus Dowie is big on fitness, which can only be good for Reid.

I'd be inclined to think it'll be more in the middle which is a good thing IMO. Jerome Thomas and Rommedahl will probably be the 2 wide players although the latter didn't have a great season last year.

Great move for him. If he has a few bad games at Charlton he'll still get his game due to their smaller squad. Should do his confidence a world of good. Hopefully he does well. We need him after last night's performace.
