i deffo thought him overweight in the chile game , great raw talent , hopefully leeds turns out to be a good move for him
I don't know if I'd go as far to say it's a make or break season for Reid but it's definately a big one ahead wherever he plays. As Eirebhoy says, he's no teenage winger now and he has to start stamping his undoubted talent on games.
It's been the subject of a lot of debate but I am now fairly sure his weight is an issue. I'm not saying he's down in his local McDonalds every night but he is bigger than what he was at Forest and considering his training will be very efficient then his diet is something he must look at. Yes maybe he is naturally "stocky" but even if he is, it appears to be impeding his game and progress so he should look at ways of knocking and keeping a few pounds off.
I'd rather see him staying in the Premiership than dropping down a division again but we'll see. You can only go if there are offers. Always thought West Ham would be a great club for him and he wouldn't have much bother displacing Etheringham.

Was he crazy!! Yeah , in a very special way , an Irishman.
I slept, and dreamed that life was Beauty;
I woke, and found that life was Duty.
Etherington is a better option the way West Ham play than Andy Reid is. He is a face pacey winger who gets the byline often and delivers good crosses, I often thing spurs should not have let him go. The way West Ham play with Benayoun cutting insdie on the right hand side its important that they can stretch defences out the wings on the left. Etherington does this time and time again. Andy reid would be too similar to Benayoun in that respect in that he would hold onto the ball and slow the play down as he does not have the pace to get past players the same way as Etherington does.
Spurs paid 5 million for Reid and 3 Million for Dawson. To get 2 Million back is not bad considering they got Dawson for a bargain in my view.

First Time poster but have been viewing for a while.
As to Reid to Leeds would love to see him there as he needs to reestablish himself in a decent side. However I think many of us have looked at him with rose tinted glasses as I'm not sure he is that good.
I spoke to him earlier this year in a Pub in central London and I asked him why he didn't go to leeds last January (leeds tried to take him on loan) and he said he didn't want to play championship football. As no other Premiership club has come in for him Leeds maybe his last chance to make it.
Any Amount of Links here.
He will be a good signing for us, but he needs to buckle down, and get his head right. More than likely he will playing Right wing, with, Derry and Westlake in the center and Lewis on the wing. Thats of course if Blackwell, dosent resort to the stupid 4-3-3 like last season, in which he'll find himself playing in the corner.
Welcome on board.
The guy was outstanding for Forest before he was sold and did well in his first 8 games or so for Spurs, scoring only once but frequently going close. He's been unlucky with injury since & although I think he's been decent, but far from great, in green I think a lack of games at club level has badly affected his international form. It felt like every time we had a big game coming up both he & Robbie were out of the team at Spurs.
I think his chance to make his name at Spurs has probably gone though.
It'll be interesting to see how well he'd do if he plays regularly, stays fit and applies himself. I think he's good enough for the Premiership but he needs to prove it.
I think hes well good enough for the Premiership but Leeds will probobly be a good move for him at the moment. Agree that he should be now looked at as a CM - IMO he is the most creative player we have and is wasted on the wings. Bit surprised Harry Redknap hasnt snapped him up
I used to think that maybe he got too much stick for being overweight and that maybe he was just stocky like Richard Dunne but if you ever see footage of when the U16's won the European Cup you'll see that he is not naturally stocky. Since then he has seemed to put on an awful lot of weight which can't be a good thing. Hopefully he'll come good again though.
He was actually so skinny back then that I reckoned he'd probably not make it. My suspicion is that he has bulked up in the gym over the years to compensate for this. Aiden McGeady was put on a fairly comprehensive weights programme by Celtic to build himself up too. I'm not being naive: Reid's general fitness is obviously a concerrn but I can't help but think a lot of his size is explainable. It simply defies belief that a modern-day Premiership player could have diet or weight problems and not lose his job.
Yeh, I saw Reid at U21 level a lot and he just ballooned in size. I reckon it's from weights he had to do to build himself up. He's deceptively quick when he wants to be!
You should know about it DeNiro. Didn't you do the same preparing for Raging Bull & Cape Fear?
Young players nowadays come under a lot of pressure to bulk up when they are starting out on their footballing careers.
I was in the Gym last summer and there was this kid there with his mate, think he was about 14/15, and he was asking for advice on lifting weights as he wanted to bulk up. I asked him why was he so keen on bulking being that he was so young and he said that he was heading over to England as he had been signed by Crystal Palace and he had been advised to bulk up by doing weights. He wasn't that particulary small, maybe just a bit skinny but most kids at that age are.
Ginola was slagged off in the press as being overweight, he took his shirt off after scoring in a goal and put that notion to rest..chiseled..what am I saying?...I fancy Ginola...NO, fcek off! Just saying that most Premiership players are in good shape and talk about whoever being "fat" is usually more off the pace than the "podgy" player.
Other players have said they've bumped into Reid in games or training and he's solid...other players said to be fat...Dunne, Rooney etc. but reports of their obesity are much inflated.
Anyway!....great to see Reid going to Leeds, hopefully, good for him and good for Leeds. Blackwell is a sound enough manager, no frills, straightforward football based around solid players and no prima donnas.
