Travesty that he isn't even in the squad. A 4-5-1 with Reid might be the way to go against the French.
Reid has got himself fit, he is playing some great stuff and argubaly our best passer of the ball if he was in the team. Its very hard to understand why Trap hasn't given him a chance, to be honest Reid has nothing left to prove and Trap will have to overcome his massive Ego and pick him, i think it will all back fire on Trap eventually.
He will be in the playoff squad.
Playing Reid from the start will be a gamble. We know what to expect from the players and team we have. Yes some may be limited or more limited than Reid, but as a unit they are fairly effective.
Put Reid in and you don't know what to expect because that particular combination of players have not played together before. It takes more than a couple of weeks to figure out what a manager expects of you. It's only now that the Irish players are understanding what Trap wants, given the nature of international football and that you only see the players for maybe 25 days a year.
What if he doesn't track back, what if he doesn't mark up, there are so many what if's.
I am all for Reid being in the squad and in the team eventually, maybe even at the world cup. But for the qualifiers do we go for a proven team or a player who may or may not do well. I don't think we should go with that gamble.
He might be in the squad for the qualifiers, but I doubt the starting line up. But if I had to choose between bringing on Andy Reid or else Folan or Best, I'd go with the latter as ultimately forwards win you matches.

I agree. Just a feeling. Trap has got his point across and he will put the best team on the field he can.
I would go as far as to say I would be shocked if he wasnt named.
The Roberto Baggio stuff from 8 years ago or whatever will have no correlation to the situation with Andy IMO.
IF Andy did tell Brady to take a hike he will get over it after Andy apologizes which I am sure he would.
And then they can all move on together to SA........
No Somos muchos pero estamos locos.
His free kick today set up a Sunderland goal. He also launched a cross to Bent at the end of the game that he should have scored from.
The man is clearly lethal in the Premier League, yet we still consider Shane bleedin' Long over Andy Reid!
I actually think Trap will snub both Andy Reid and Steve Finnan in the upcoming squad. He knows what he wants and he's far too conservative to try something different at such a time.
If we do qualify for the world cup I think he'll call them all up to give them a fair chance but right now I don't see any surprises for the next squad.
Three years ago maybe.....he's been injured ever since he left Liverpool for Espanyol.
Out for a long time, played no real part in the campaign to date, arguable commitment to the cause given that he retired already and in Trap's mind he would view Finnan as being potentially disruptive if he was called up and left on the bench.
There's a lot of reasons why he wouldn't call him up.
Whether or not Finnan comes into the team really depends on whether Trap thinks he'll be a better left back than Kilbane. I can't see him dropping St. Ledger at this point.
Kilbane has given his all for the whole campaign, it would be unfair to drop him at this stage.
