Still can't agree with your point of view. I doubt very much that Andy Reid is the first player that Trap has fallen out with and a man of his experience and record is free to manage as he see fit if he gets the required results. After the campaign is the only time we can judge if it's harmed our qualification hopes or not.

In fairness, everything on this thread is heresay in any case. I'd love to see him back but we can't pass judgements based on the patchy information that we have.

How so? If Traps reasoning is of a tactical nature, then surely this same argument would still hold true. Particualrly with Reid playing well as he is in a wide role not a central role that Rowlands has been called up to cover.
I thought you were off the drink Ronnie?

Well, Noel Hunt isn't exactly a straight swap for Caleb Folan is he? If he was looking for this he should surely have picked Clinton Morrison. So not every replacement Trap picks is a carbon copy of the person he replaces. I'll be honest and say that I haven't seen much of Martin Rowlands play but I don't think he is the exact same player as Steven Reid, so surely there is room more manouevre on this. With the news that Duff looks like he'll be ruled out of the 2 qualifiers, there is now no excuse for Trap not to pick Reid!!!
“I’d always play Pirlo but Trapatoni says his first concern is to avoid losing goals. The truth is that we didn’t know what we were doing out there" Gennaro Gattuso, June 2004.

This segment here enrages me....KEOGH IS NOT A WINGER!!!

Against Manchester United, he (Reid) played well - and he played better the game before. But, at the moment, he is playing wide left. He played against John O'Shea and played well.

At this time, we have Aiden McGeady, we have Andy Keogh, we have Liam Lawrence - we have others in this position.

that was the one piece of the article that jumped out at me too.The lad has been very good for Wolves up front this season and absolutely brutal for us anytime he is played as a winger, what the hell in that leads a manager who is experienced to believe that Keogh can continue to do a job on the wing for us.Its not fair to Keogh to keep pushing him out of position either
    Its really not that complicated!!!

If Reid is excluded because he's deemed 5th in the winger category behind Duff, Hunt, Lawrence, and McGeady, I can accept that...however with Duff injured, I feel Reid is the natural replacement.

As you say, Keogh being labelled a winger is unfair on him as well because he's simply no good there.

ya and if you read it right then it proves what Trap is saying is crap. Keogh is not a winger but a forward, and yet he is picked as a winger by trap and played as a winger. Reid is a central midfielder, but he is now saying to suit him that he is a left winger and that we already have them, and that he is playing out of position at his club. If he can play keogh out of position then he could play "reid out of position" too.

That, my friend, is very much open for debate. I believe he should be called up though.

Thats not the real point im making. He is trying to make out that reid is playing out on the left, where previously he was seen as a midfielder, and is using the excuse that he is being played out on the left. If obvious in the reading of it. Yet he plays keoghs out on the left so its a load of crap.

Lads the point is, is that Trap does not see Reid as a left winger or as a central midfielder and he only sees him as just behind the front man He does not trust him enough to tackle back to play in the middle or out on the wing. In addition he was not happy with Reids attitude around the squad when he was not a starter so as a result he is not in the squad. Simple as that, managers live and die by their decisions.

Ya, you can live or you can really live though.

I agree with yer point, i said if long is dropped from the squad and reid wasn't picked then i would be seroiuslly annoyed, but that i wouldn't hold my breath, when a mate txtxd me saying poor auld andy reid and his boots, some roland fella got called up instead of him

Trap knows more about football than anybody on this board and any journalist that was at the conference today. Shows your medals as they say.

I don't agree with that line of argument. There's plenty of managers out there with medals and trophies who are making a right balls of things. No one should be immune to criticism or questioning just because they have a good CV, in my opinion.

Exactly. Trap is a good manager but his treatment of Reid is out of order.

Does it mean that he doesn't hold grudges like anyone else can?

By the way, Trappatoni's english is still poor. "If we make playoff, team morale <vigourous hand gestures> ...high!" Cheers Trappa..

Compare it to Capello's, who hadn't a word of english before he took the England job.

    I think you underestimate Trap.

He knows that the sooner he masters English, the sooner he loses Manuela.
