Heard last week that he was due to sign. From what I hear he's a good prospect and given that he's a central midfielder, it's welcome news.

just lookin at an interview with kellier and this is what he says on their website!
"John McNicholas has been offered a deal by Longford Town on the say of Aaron Callaghan. This is a far better financial offer then I could even begin to compete with and John has accepted the offer. I take this opportunity to wish John all the best and I am very sorry to lose him. I hope the move works well for John but I feel it may have come a season or two to early for him.
Discussions with Adrian Murphy are on going and we will see how they progress"
anyone know anything about john mcnicholas at all?
this is what I got from their website:
McNICHOLAS, John
Position: Centre Midfield Date of Birth: 07/12/84
Season Stats Here
Signed from Saint Josephs Boys, John has been one of the finds of the season. Coming straight from schoolboy football, the 18 years old scored on his eircom League debut against Monaghan United. Does the simple things right in the centre of the park, and never stops working.
interesting news that!![]()
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?

Yep, Johnny Mc was fairly decent for us last season. As far as I know
when we signed him it was to kind of develop him over a few seasons,
but due to his performances and our lack of players he ended up playing
most of the season.
Still a bit light, but he's only just out of schoolboy football.
Seems very hunched when he's running but if he stood up straight he'd
probably be around 7 foot!
Personally I dont think he should have moved yet cos he's not Premier
Division standard yet and cant see him getting much of a look in over there.
Apparently ye offered a nice bit of cash too, which we couldnt compete with.

Played with him once at schoolboy level in Dublin. Very good player back then and is definitely the type of lad who'd learn and develop a lot at Longford.

Town move for McNicholas
Midfielder John McNicholas has agreed a move to Premier Division side Longford Town, Athlone Town boss Stephen Kelly has revealed.
McNicholas joined Town before the start of last season, and the man who initiated that deal, then Athlone manager Aaron Callaghan, has again been behind the latest move for the 20-year-old in his capacity as Longford assistant boss.

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
It would seem he's more than likely on the way to Flancare alright, hopefully he'll develop into a player, can't say I know an awful lot about him but various reports have it that he's a prospect worth taking a chance on.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.
