Peter McGlynn formerly of LTFC has signed for Republic FC in Sacramento in California. Meh.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.
Tommy Dunne signed Horgan. Horgan was involved in our promotion season in 2011. He left the winter Caulfield came in. John wanted to keep him. Daryl wanted trophies. Its worked out annoyingly well for him.
From Rover press conference, Roberto Lopes, Danny Devine, Paul Corry and Ryan Connolly presented as Hoops players.
Conor McCormack from Derry to City. Looks like we're bulking up the squad, I don't see any players coming in who will instantly claim a first team position, though Dooley surprised me last year. We definitely look a lt stronger in midfield than last year. Losing Gearoid when we did cost us a shot at the title in the last few weeks of the season so the likes of McCormack and Keohane will help out there.
Corry is the only one there who would instantly improve the team imho.
I saw Lopes at Bohs a lot. While he is an outstanding athlete with a superb attitude and seemingly a good leader too, he is not a v good footballer in posession. His touch and passing can be v poor. He was liked by the Bohs faithful tho coz he had a terrific engine and worked his arse off when out of posession.
Who knows maybe he can make a Chris Shields type transformation and suddenly learn how to be good on the ball but if I was a rovers fan id prefer Cregg sitting deep in midfield.
Listening to Stephen Bradley , they are all leaders and all have captained their clubs, that's the type of player we need going forward, no primadonnas ...
Hopefully more to come over the next few weeks.
Excellent signings for rovers. I've noticed a lot of the defenders signed up for next season though are fairly young. Great potential for the future with this team but won't run cork or dundalk close IMO. Going forward this team could be very good but more bashings from Cork won't shock me next season unless they strengthen
From what I'm hearing around the club these 4 are just the start of some big signings over the next few weeks. Time will tell I guess.
Rovers fans must be giddy with excitement
BTW who is Daniel Devine?
He was captain of Aston Villa's youth team. Had some bad knee injuries and retired. Was playing ball in the LSL but obviously is well enough to give it another go.
The only one to really stand out from the 4 for me, is Paul Corry, I see he signed a 3 year deal too. Good move, decent player.
McCormack with Cork should be fun.
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), first Irish club to win points in a group stage in Europe (2016).
Corry on paper is a great signing but obviously you have to question if he's over his injury problems and if his attitude will be right, it often isn't when players come back from England.
Danny Morrissey leaves City. I'm sure won't be long before Limerick announce his signing. Smashing player who has been unfortunate with injuries after a great partnership with Kilduff a few years back. I'm sure he'll thrive with Limerick
