It's not decided yet as to whether they are through to the final however they did beat Kilkishen 5-0.

I would imagine that Olympic are top of their section as they have played 3 and won 3.

ok maybe lifford were lucky to get 3 points from newtown game but we didnt play well at all and its a cliche but its a sign of a good team when you play bad but still win.. i'd say lifford will drop points throughout the season (what team doesn't) but they are picking up points this season that they didnt get last season....ie avenue and newtown.
also been 'lightweight' is not a disadvantage as there is less belly to carry in the last 10 mins of games!!

Was it on in Ruan or Lee's road last night? Lee's Road...what a set up. Only thing I did not like was the hiding we got out there.

Fair bad weather in the Bunratty area at the moment. Any word on tonights games.
Its a probability that lifford A home games will be in Lee's rd for the rest of the season!!

Is it true Bunratty have no B team this year? What happens when a team folds before the league even starts, is the respective division just one smaller?

yes good point it is a good sign if u can still win without playing well ... but luck still plays a big part in everything it is the soft points dropped that usually cost teams the league
as said in earlier thread looks like a very tight league this year
as everbody seems to be dropping points so far .. also some teams have a lot more belly to carry than others ,, i wont name anybody
** forgot to add most of these bellys will be getting tempted around town tonight & tomorrow night **

    3rd Division Shield

    Bridge Celtic o Newtown B 1
A goal by Newtown B's Willie O Donoghue ,headed home after an inchperfect Rory Price free kick ,early in the second half ,was enough to give the understrength visitors the points against a much improved Bridge Celtic B last night.Celtic, who had shipped 7 goals against the other Shield finalists contenders,Shannon Olympic, were a vastly improved side from their effort against the other half of the Shannon Old Firm, but still didnt unduly trouble Newtowns keeper Jason Phelan, who was execellently protected by a well organised replacement back four of Gearoid Magee,Trevor Donnellan,Robbie McCoy and scorer O'Donoghue.Despite extreme pressure for the remainder of the game the home sides best efforts were able dealt with and Newtown held on for the final whistle to put them through to the £rd Division Shield Final ,much to the delight of manager Bunny Monaghan

Congrats to Newtown B and best of luck in the final. If anyone else is going to win it I'd rather see a Shannon side do it. Hopefully both Newtown and Olympic will both be fighting for the title this year.

Ah Lads.... Where is all this crack licking and admiration coming from. What happened the good "old firm rivalry" that was mentioned earlier.

Be honest now... do ye really hope the other side of the old firm has won when ye get the scores every Sunday just so ye can both "top the league in harmony together"
    I'd have my doubts

well to be fair there has always been intense rivalry but never any hassle so I dont have any problem wishing Olympic the best in going for promotion.I have to add that they were very sporting after we beat them last week and thats when you know who are real sportsmen or not!!

I'll admit there are people at Olympic who strongly hate Newtown. Personally I don't count myself as part of that group. I have friends on the Newtown team so perhaps I am an exception. Rivalry existis on the field sure and noone gloats better than Newtown sure but I'd rather be battling against someone I know so I can partake in some good old fashioned slagging rather than some bunch from out west.

Newtown B have been a long way off Olympic B in recent seasons so it is good to see them sort themselves out so that the rivalry may mean something this year. I'm pretty confident we'll be there or thereabouts again this year so it'd be nice to see the derby games be real 6 pointers for a change.

    Very good to hear....

Its easy be sporting when you lose though I would say and its how sporting you are when you win that is the real test...

Best of luck to both of ye I'm sure ye will both challenge for promotion this year....
Any idea who Newtown B will face in the shield final?????

well while we are on the rumour trail, any truth in that bunratty were supposed to meet with jim madden after they played avenue to talk about pulling out of the league???????????????????????????????????????????? ????

hopefully this is not true, as all the effort in the past decade will be wasted, but if it is please note that 3 or 4 bunratty players would be very welcome at avenue???????????????????????????????????????????? ??????????????
