It was a typical local derby with neither side sparing it on the physical front and Kilkishen deservedly went ahead after 15 minutes. A well worked goal that caught the Tulla defence square. However, the second goal will be talked about for a while in the pubs of Kilkishen and Tulla. Kilkishen had a free about 30 yards out which was floated in. The Tulla goalie came out to around the penalty spot and jumped for the ball but was clattered by the Kilkishen centre-half who while he was making a genuine effort to get to the ball, definitely impeded the goalie. The goalie dropped the ball and it was a simple tap-in for Kilkishen. The Tulla lads went balistic and to be honest, you couldn't blame them. The Kilkishen lads would hold up their hands and say, it shouldn't have been allowed but then, they've been on the receiving end of more than their share of bad refereeing decisions this season so this one redresses the balance a bit. At half-time with Kilkishen two goals up it looked over, but Kilkishen forgot to come out for the second half and within three minutes, Tulla had pulled one back. After that, both sides had chances but in the end, Kilkishen just hung on for three much needed points.
