Stephen O'Flynn can't play LOI again I don't think something about getting tax back.

Any opinions from others as to what Kevin Devaney and Paul Finnegan are like?

Finnegan is a good ball playing centre half. Quick, good in the air, and composed on the ball. Left Oriel Park as he was too old for the U19's and we operate with a small squad of senior players supplemented by the U19's.

Stephen O'Flynn can play LOI again. Nothing prohibiting it. If he has claimed back his tax however he can't play professional football in this country, so there would be limitations on what he would be able to earn beyond expenses.

The question is how Derry are taken into consideration for this as its an Irish government scheme, not an LOI scheme so he may well be able to play for Derry and continue to pay his tax in the North.

I don't think you're actually allowed play LOI even as an amateur if you've claimed the refund. Revenue got the hump after a few players did it.

Kevin Devaney is a very decent player. Was disappointed when he left Harps, wouldn't mind seeing him return.

Neal Horgan did it for several seasons If I'm remembering correctly.

You can play again but you have to pay back what you claimed so no chance

I'm open to correction but I'm pretty sure that's why O'Flynn didn't sign for Harps when he was training with them a while back. He even played for their reserves in Ulster Senior League I think. Nigel or Mr A would know more. You're supposed to claim the refund when you retire.

He was in with Harps alright two years ago. Was training with the first team and played a couple of friendlies and a tournament on Arranmore Island but ended up going to Institute for the reasons above regarding his tax.

Strictly speaking, you can play "amateur" football (ie Glenn Crowe playing for Malahide United) after you've gotten your refund, but i'm guessing the Revenue don't believe anyone in the LOI isn't getting paid, and I'd say most of the clubs who'd be signing a retired player would rather their financial affairs weren't examined too closely.

Your own club would be the ones to ask about signing retired players!

That one was an all-time classic. Would definitely do it again.

Almost worth it for the sheer outrage and vitriol it caused in Dundalk I'd say.

Assuming you could find a player who wants to leave Dundalk for Rovers.

It was pandemonium. Crisps and minerals everywhere.

Probably the best part of it was thrashing Rovers 5-1 in the next fixture in Oriel.

A Tipton hatrick and Fenn ignominiously subbed off on 60 minutes - a brilliant night all round

Thanks for the reminder Charlie, it was fun reading this again

Surely Dundalk fans have better things to do than reminisce about that season. I mean, we clearly don't, but surely you should.

Not forgetting the great chant when Fenn was subbed 'bye bye baby, baby bye bye'

Tremendous night's entertainment to add to the 5-1 win.

#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), only Irish club to win a game / points in Europa League Group Stage (2016).

He's kak. Always looks overweight. Dosent take on full backs. Always cuts inside. Couldn't cross his legs. Pity cause he's a Sligo lad so was hoping he'd do it for us last season.
Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.
Manager: Ah good stuff, well give them to this man so, he forgot his!
