You have to wonder with all the ex-city talent making their living across the irish sea.
I know junior clubs love to say they started Robbie Keanes career or whoever but there has to be something wrong when city leave talented young players go abroad (they have to be handy enough or wouldn't be offered contracts by professional clubs) & get none or very little in return.......
Does the club only see it as a pride thing that they developed the players or should they really be embarished they let the players go on free transfers?

All i ever say to that is what would you do? the bright lights of English football, or Century Homes Park on a cold Sunday afternoon?
We cant offer them that kind of deal or attractiveness.
what we can do is get a decent return on them when they leave. But we dont......not a penny.
those 3 players that left are all going to do well in football. 2 have are were in ireland U21 squads and the other aint far behind........
what did we get for them?
Reportedly a sum of £50,000 quid- a joke
The biggest challenge facing us and al e.l. clubs is trying to keep our youngsters at home. It will take a long time before it is attractive for the likes of Delaney to stay in Ireland but imagine if they did. The standard of the league would rise, clubs might actually avoid disgrace in Europe every year, there would be a many homebased under 21 internationals etc.
The problem is getting out of the vicious cicle.
What will stop this from happening in the long term is to stop the rape of EL clubs by cross channel clubs in the short term.
the sum i mentioned above is just that-rape
Look all i'm saying is the more money that comes into the clubs now.....the more chance we have of promoting and achieving a proffesional league in the future. we can help ourselves here by not putting up with the appaling sums offered to clubs by cross channel bullys.....
Does anyone think there would be professional footall in the english 3rd or conference divisions if they kept lossing players for a couple of pennies?
Not a hope would there be & the 2nd division over there would be in massive trouble too. Its a fact of life that small clubs have to sell their best players but this allows them to keep the rest of their players.
CCFC must have probably the best underage system in the country as whens the last time you heard of other top eL clubs youth players heading off to england....?
Its fine to sell some of your best players but only if it can finance the development of more players but letting players go on free transfers is embarishing....
Exactly, the more money comes in the better. These players have ambitions to play at a higher level. Only by getting a fair transfer fee for them can we improve our own appeal to young players. Maybe then they will stay![]()
and who is responsible for that at CCFC ?
life is random
Who's responsable? Everyone from the board down to Gunther.......a complete amateur set up is in place
i know i just wanted to here someone else say it.![]()

What about that EU thing banning fees for transfers or something like that? Im totally miffed about that one, isnt it supposed to be in place now? Nothing seems to have changed there.![]()
As I say, we're just young & a bit nieve.
There is/will be no ban on transfer fees (although looks like the club have been operating on that basis for years) but i think there will be restrictions on when players can leave clubs (transfer windows).
I think theres also supposed to be mantatory compensation for players u-24 who move on a free transfer & i think mandatory clauses to pass on a % of any future transfer fees to smaller clubs. No idea what sums will be involved there though.
Yeah its some kind of developement fee...i wonder what the chances are of the club actually recieving these fees and lodging them directly to the Little Island Golf club account![]()
actually i may have hit the nail on the head guys.......
AFAIK we will not get a cent for any of de players mentioned above as de agreement was reached after their signings. Nor will we receive anything if we lose a young player on a free anytime soon, as the rule changes have yet to be put in place.
From what I remember, these rule changes included, fixed EU-wide transfer windows, compensation & % of next sale for developing young players, and restrictions on players moving clubs too often.
I presume that these rules will come in soon for transactions between member FAs but with the internal application left to the individual FAs to regulateIt wasn't that long ago since the Bosman rule was brought in for players moving between NL clubs while they could go abroad on one for ages b4 that - so that's what I'm basing my assumptions on.
Gunther & Co. have said that signing up young players on contracts and not repeating mistakes of de past was a priority, so maybe lessons have been learned...
And it doesn't help when mickey mouse clubs like Carlisle take the better players in the league to join their struggling fight for survival.
Bohs potentially could be devastated if Roddy Collins claims are to be believed. Imagine if some English club announced they intended to sign City three or four of City's best players
...we'd be screwed
Ya I think that he put Colin P. on a 2 year contract as soon as he started making waves. Not positive about that, but fairly sure.
On another note Philip Quin from the Independent said today that Declan Daly & Pat Morley were in the top 5 players of the last decade - nice that they got that recognition.
As I say, we're just young & a bit nieve.
Pat Morleys isn't just one of best LOI/eL players in last decade but in last century.
whats the deal with the UEFA ban on players under 18 moving from their own country to another. is it ever going to happen?
