Minister views progress at Citys Buckley Park
SPORTS MINISTER, John O’Donoghue will be taken on a tour of Kilkenny City’s new stand complex at Buckley Park today (Wednesday).
He will be the third minister for sport to visit the ground since development work got underway.
Building started in the early ’nineties when MEP Liam Aylward was junior Minister for Sport.
He set the ball rolling with a £50,000 grant which led to the building of the club’s first stand.
With the support of Deputy John McGuinness and Councillor Joe Reidy, progress continued and the visit of the then Sports Minister, Dr Jim McDaid led to the construction of a second stand at the rear of the country goal in the six-acre stadium.
