    Whistling a happy tune

    Whistling a happy tune

THE SOCCER referees of Ireland whistled a happy tune when they visited Kilkenny at the weekend.
There wasn’t a sign of a red or yellow card as the men and women of the Eircom League enjoyed their end of season get-together in Kilkenny.
A party of almost 100 was welcomed by Mayor Martin Brett who gave them a brief history of the local game and recalled his own refereeing and playing days in the Kilkenny & District League.
The weekend began with a reception in St Francis Abbey Brewery on Friday and continued with a dinner evening at Hotel Kilkenny on Saturday.
