Saw a report Longford gaa have to get a new stand surely there would be enough half decent bits to build a small stand over section O if its going for scrap De Town could buy it for scrap value get it dismantled and rebuild it using an engineering company

I'd imagine the GAA will find a home for anything of use in one of the GAA clubs in the county. I like your creative thinking though I must say.

I think after the world cup in Korea & Japan 2002 Portugal did a deal to buy the stadium for their european championships in 2004 I think the dates are correct last I heard steel was about �1000 a tonne and scrap value was between �100 & �150 a tonne it might be more or less now it was a whe back but it would be worth checking out
Im not suggesting a monster structure something like Drogheda has would suffice

Would've thought the GAA would be recycling as much as possible themselves - the problems (with the stand at least) are the foundations rather the roof as I understand it.

It does show the real shame that the various field sports aren't more open to ground shares and can't do more to pool resources. One top stadium for football, GAA and potentially rugby...

Oh the GAA will ground share Alright but only when you throw the big bucks at them
