Another random close-season thread! After Gary Dicker and Darren Quigley played (made their debuts?) for Ireland at U-19 level this week, how many players have now played international football while at UCD? Going to be relying on CTID for this one I think! Nevertheless, will try and get the ball rolling...
NI - U23, U21 and U20
Hugh Davey
Canada - senior
Dave Norman? Did he play for them while with us? Or did any of the others?
Ireland - senior
Sherro maintains that Alan O'Neill won a senior cap while with us...can't see anywhere to support that, but did he get on the bench at all?
Ireland - B international
Shay Kelly?
Ireland - U21
Robbie Doyle
Clive Delaney
Ciarán Martyn
Mick O'Byrne
Jason Sherlock?
Robbie Martin and Darragh Ryan in that training session in Bisham's Abbey in England! Doesn't count, I suppose...
Ireland - other underage
Gary Dicker
Darren Quigley
Glen Fitzpatrick
Aidan Lynch
Paul Byrne? Seems to have been in the U19 squad before anyway
Ireland - Colleges
Conor Sammon
Damien Kelly
Darren Quigley
Mark Leech?
So, who am I missing?

We're not arrogant, we're just better.
Alan O'Neill only ever made the senior bench. And he is now the goalkeeper Coach for the Under 21 squad.
He was however capped at all levels for Ireland including Amateur and Olympic level when he played in Olympic Qualifiers for the Seoul Olympics in 1988, when a LOI representative side represented Ireland.
Yes Dave did play for Canada as did Shaun Lowther who lined out at right back for UCD from 1980 to 1982. Other Canadian players included Brent Barling , Ralston Dunlop, Sammy Saundh, Carl Shearer and lastly Martin Sumner all played for UCD while on loan from Vancouver. How many of them were capped for Canada while on the books here is still unclear.Originally Posted by pineapple stu
Who else you are missing?
Well we always had Universities internationals but we have had 2 Republic of Ireland Schoolboy International goalkeepers. Jimmy Donnelly in 1993/94 and Darren Quigley last year.
Senior internationals who began their careers at U.C.D.
Willie Browne (R.I.P.) capped at Republic of Ireland B level while at U.C.D. and went on to win 3 caps as a Bohs player.
Kevin Moran won Collingwood Cup winners medal in 1976 and gained several senior caps when he moved to play in the English top flight.
you's are missing a few under 21's centre half liam tiernan who recieved the man of the match award in the dr tony o'niel cup final against cork was capped 5 times by the irish schools team and even managed to score against scotland in the final game darren o'brien was also capped at under 17 level under brian kerr and featured in there european campaign brian kerr has spoken highly of darren ever since he seen him playing schoolboy football at w.f.t.a and let us not forget about mr gannon who was capped at under 14's and was predicted to go on 2 have a great future in football which by the looks of him he will by the looks of these players the future of u.c.d is bright
When was that exactly? Was it actually while playing for us? (Remember, UCD players to have played international football while at a different club is another thread!)Originally Posted by CollegeTillIDie
Forgot about Willie Browne - good spot... Nice to see the U21s doing well too!
