Is Gareth Farrelly pulling on his boots next year?

I know he made a few sub appearances this year, but he was unfit from inactivity. Does he intend to be an integral player himself? I never actually rated him as one but I am wondering was this in the minds of the Bohs board at all when they gave him the job. How has he looked when he came on?

How about getting an experienced player and a rookie manager for just one salary rather than two ???

Big mistake if you ask me as player managers inevitably hang up their boots prematurely ( e.g. Fenlon at Shels ) so they will miss out on a good player and be stuck with an inexperienced manager. Exception to this would be Alan Reynolds at Waterford.

The trick with being a successful player manager lies in who you have running the bench when you are on the field. Giles Cheevers runs the bench well for the Blues. UCD during Doolin's first season had Noel White running the bench and you might have noticed that was the year we got our best finish under Doolin.

When Doolo hung up the boots. Noel White was shown the door by Doolo as the bench was not seemingly big enough for both of them. The loss was both Doolo's and UCD's because people of Noel's caliber do not grow on trees.

Gareth Farrelly seems to have able assistants on the bench. This gives him the option of putting the boots back on if he can come through pre season training and regain his match fitness. Which would be good from a Bohs perspective, extra player no extra overhead.
