Just wondering if any of you Cork ******s were at the one where U2 did a surprise appearence,think it was around 1985,anyway what were your memories of it,******s

Yeah I was there, they didn't really impress me to be honest.
And almost 20 years later they still haven't.

It was part of Cork 800, 1985. It was a fine sunny Sunday afternoon and was quite a surprise, but as word slowly started to reach around the city (no mobile phones remember!), crowds began to flock out to the Lee fileds. I reckon there was a few thousand at the start of the gig, but by the evening there were tens of thousands wandering around out there, very few of whom had actually seen any part of the gig!
