You are carrying on as if he is Messi now- again I'm not disputing his record. He has a great delivery and good dead ball but his general play and application leave a lot to be desired. It will be interesting to see if results dis-improve as you say they will.

I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.

Get some micro brewery to do a Duff beer, he can borrow Hooperman's cape and sell the stuff while he is injured on a commission to pay his wage.

Probably, but shirt sales are negligible in this league. He'd want to be increasing sales tenfold for it even to be a consideration. The only revenue streams that matter in the league are ticket sales and sponsorship, and I'm not sure any player would have a huge effect on the latter either. I'm prepared to be proven wrong though.

Dean Kelly is signing for us from Bohs according to The Mirror. This would apparently then clear the way for us to sell Gary Shaw to Shamrock Rovers or one of the other interested teams. The Mirror says another top 3 LOI team and at least one Championship club are interested.

No that's what the paper says. There's been a fair bit of talk about clubs being in for him.

Kelly is ok as Premier Division strikers go from what I've seen of him over the years. If we keep Shaw then Kelly, Shaw and O'Sullivan will give us options up front with Kaleem Simon as a prospect to be developed. If we're swapping Kelly for Shaw I'm not sure it's much of an upgrade.

Yeah, seemingly there's no shortage of clubs after a striker who hasn't scored in 16 games.

    He works hard though

I like Shaw, he has a Conor Sammon quality in the fact he is quite gd with his back to goal & gets through a lot of work, it depends if you only judge a striker on his goals? A player can get 15+ goals a season but often be a passenger the rest of the time so the team is basically playing with 10 men. Players of Shaw's ilk can help improve the whole sides levels without looking too flashy

Having said all that I think Shaw's limit is a mid level LOI side

Signing Kelly would put Longford in a strong position to reel in the 9/10 point gap to a fifth place finish and the associated jackpot prize money

Not if we sell shaw tho. If we keep the SOS and sign Kelly then it's certainly going to be worth a few extra points to us but hopefully the additions don't stop there. Could do with some cover at the back and maybe even another winger given our current injury situations.

Darren Mansaram worked his socks off, didnt score many, and was a passanger and had a Conor Sammon quailty about him - he was the worst likeable player ever at Dundalk. A striker is all about goals imo and thats the only way to rate them. Maybe your point stands for a target man type but you would still expet them to chip in with the goals. Most Dundalk fans are judging McMillan on his strike rate and he really does work his socks off, running the channels and creating space for the attacking midfielders but a 15-20 goals a season is what is wanted and needed.

You have to think about the overall team & not just the one player, you could swap McMillan out for someone like Ciaran Kilduff who is a better goal scorer but the team could be worse off as you are not winning the ball back up as high up the pitch or he doesnt create the space for you midfielders to run off him.

Dundalk are a great example of fitting a team together that plays to everyones strengths, as most of that side bar Towell, had just been mid level LOI players before the start of last season

Bar 6 months at Cork, Kilduff couldn't really be seen as a goal scorer. If Dundalk had a top striker they'd probably have won every game so far. Testament to their strength that McMillan isn't more of a hindrance.

FWIW, Shaw is a very good player too IMO. Himself and Kelly could work well together.

Bohs look to have problems up front too now. Strange one

Kilduff supposed to be on his way to Dundalk. Would have thought a bad move for him as Kenny rarely changes up his starting 11 and McMillan is doing well as the front man as it stands.

Rumours still floating around here about new faces coming in. They need to be in and available for Saturday or it really is a waste them coming in.

is that long since Gary Shaw scored?? That is some drought!
Gary Cronin is he the right man to manage Longford Town?
