dont forget about georgie!! he from the northside aswell!!
One of the more learned City fans and experienced posters might know this one.
AS far as I am aware all the former and current league of Ireland grounds in Cork City were located on the Southside of the River Lee.
Given that the Norries have produced many LOI players including Roy of the Ramblers I have a question.
Has there ever been a League of Ireland club located on the North side of the city?

Bishopstown - Cork City
Flower Lodge - Cork Hibs = 1962-63 to 1975/76
Cork Celtic = 1969/70 to 1970/71 & 1978/79
Albert Rvs/C. Alberts/Cork UTD =1976/77 to 1979/80
Cork City = 1984/85 to 1985/86
Greyhound Park, Cork - Cork Bohemians 1932/33 to 1933/34
Mardyke - Cork Fordsons, Cork City, Cork United, Cork Athletic, Evergreen UTD, Cork Celtic and Cork Hibs all used it between the 30's and 60's.
And of course Turners Cross used since the 30's for senior football until the present.
City have also used St Colmans Park in Cobh and Musgrave Park.
the rifle brigade played in collin's barracks a few times
but thats back before partition.
The southsiders provide the pitch and in exchange for their generosity,we provide the talent, its always been that way!

They barely have running water on the northside so any grounds had to be on the south side!
i suppose you could argue the mardyke is neutral as it lies between the north aand south channels doesnt it? neither north or south!
Yep mardyke is middle ground. I suppose all other eircom league clubs are north of the lee

It makes you wonder, if there were North-South side soccer teams. What team would have the most support? Who would have the most money? Where would us norries have our stadium?

Thanks very much for the comprehensive list of teams and venues which corresponds to what I was able to elicit from that book by Niall McSweeney which had all the results of the League from 1921/22 to approx 1985/86 published by the Association of Football Statisticians.
The reason for my query was simple, as has been pointed out by other postees, a very large % of Cork born LOI/el players have come from the North side of the City. And indeed a lot of Non-League Cork clubs who have either won F.A.I. Junior and Intermediate Cups or who have done well enough in those competitions have qualified for the Senior Cup, have come from that part of the city too.

AAAARGH. As a proud norrie, I could argue with that! The North side is north of the north channel of the river!! Remember, when the Barrs beat the Glen, you weren't allowed throw the ux of your apple to the swans until you were on north gate bridge, cos southside swans might get them if you threw it off the south gate.Originally Posted by Pablo

P.S. when the Glen beat the Barrs, you could feed the southside swans 'cos you felt sorry for them.

ive always thought Ellis's quarry in ballyvoilane/blackpool would have been perfect. its got a rail connection, a main ring road, bus's, and plenty of room for construction. unfortunately glen rovers decided that they needed ANOTHER government funded pitch (their forth, despite the fact that the top one goes practically unused, and the middle one is "special occassions only", ie u14 B city camoigie final), and now theres a pitch there lying unused, with room on each side for, i dunno, maybe a 30,000 seater stadium. its also in an area that i know city are very popular. and best of all, i can see it from my bedroom windowOriginally Posted by harry crumb
I trust if City did move there you wouldn't just watch them from the windowOriginally Posted by ShedEnd.com
Could some mod make this a poll please. Just out of interest. Let's see how many southsiders/northsiders are using this board.

and if a stadium was erected around the pitch i wouldnt be able to see from here
I would like to claim that knowledge but unfortunately I'll have to give the credit to the book that was on the shelf near me at the time.Originally Posted by Fair_play_boy
You could even expand it and do a geographic sort of survey. NorthSide City, SouthSide City, West Cork, North Cork, East Cork & outside the PROC.Originally Posted by shedite
