The ref was the star of the show in Tallaght tonight. The early red for Ryan McBride seemed bizarre to me and certainly wiped out whatever realistic prospects Derry had. Mikey Drennan's late red looked harsh. I am eager to see them again on SR to see if my first impression were correct.

Brandon Miele's goal looked so far offside even he was amazed not to be called back.

Thought McBride's tackle was a leg-breaker, and the one from Clucas that led to Drennan being sent off wasn't much better. The fourth Rovers goal was hilarious. All in all, good performance but Drennan missing out Friday will be massive as we now only have McCaffrey, who's never started before, and Waters who's not a striker.

Just saw this on Soccer Republic.

It was definitely a Rovers player that headed it on, and I didn't see any Derry player back - looked like a shocking decision, and also looked like Miele was almost going through the motions while waiting for the inevitable whistle.

A lovely evening out in Tallaght ruined by watching that. Massive shame - Peter Hutton under a lot of pressure now.

Originally I thought McBride's sending off was harsh, but after watching Soccer Republic it was a definite red. Stupid stuff.

No revision over the Miele decision - absolutely hilarious. No bearing on the game obviously, but Miele himself is even thinking 'the whistle is going to go any second'. A few minutes later the Rovers fans behind that lino gave an ironic cheer when he called an offside decision. The whole stadium knew he was 15 yards off. Bizarro time.

Ref told people that the Derry defender touched it (after Kenna's header forward). If he did then he's onside

Tough to say from TV whether he did or not. I don't think he did but I wouldn't bet my life on it. Luckily it didn't effect the result

(Oh and the sending off was deserved)

Ah sure if the ref said it then it must be right.

Was listening to Kevin Kilbane talking about the Henry goal the other day seeing as Delaney has brought it all back into the news and he was saying that the ref told him that 100% it wasn't a handball

    Well he would, wouldn't he?

I'm just pointing out when the ref said. If the Derry lad touched the ball, then the ref is right and the player is onside.

But it doesn't really matter now

Rumour is that Derry will be lodging a legal challenge with the FAI seeking multi million compensation- in support of their claim they'll be citing as case evidence the FAI's own €5m compensation from FIFA - based on that they're onto a sure thing !!

Wexford handed out over 1,000 complimentary tickets for tonights game according to their Twitter account and it's free entry to the ground for the night. It'd be great to see a few more bumper crowds down there as it's a great little club and would really like to see them thrive in the South East.

Are you allowed give out that many free tickets to a league game? Thought there were rules against that from the FAI.

Finished 2-1 to ucd. Mick Leahy with identical goals - header from two yards out after a crap corner was flicked on at the near post

Shels goal a cracker. Not a bad game of ball overall.

I know it's only first division teams, but there'll be no shortage of confidence going into the European games. Ten league games unbeaten now I think. Unrecognisable from the team that struggled at the start of the season

Weren't Cork stopped a few years ago?

Maybe this being a replay of an abandoned game made a difference

Daft not to allow it as a promotion
