Is it a DVD Camcorder or just a mini DV you are looking for?

Can't comment on the DVD recorders but JVC have great value in their GRD 23 at around 400 yo yo's .

Not a bad little camera at the price as it was retailing for 700 yoyo's earlier this year.

the best quality and robust machine out there is a sony dv, but if you going to record footballl get a tripod to steady the picture.

the quality is good, what is your budget, a proper dv is about €2,500.

well i would stick with sony, the lense and the machine are very good and with a tripod is cheap as well, i'd try and buy in the states, i got a sony dv for $449 and it was €700 here.....

but you will get one for bout 650 and that will be fairly good.

i'd go for a dcr hv-18,20 or 40 all good buys in my book and can't see dv disappearing too quick so it will last a while.

    .................................................. .....

Maybe try and get a top of the range camera for the €1000 and you can add on lens, batteries etc. later on.

Basically ... if you want a camera that will take good footage of foot.ie games, you'll need to do that. There is no way around it.

If you want to take clips of goals etc. ... bear in mind that it is all action shots, so you'll need faster shutter speed etc.

Visit this website to find out a bit more ... look at reviews, and tech stuff ... might be handy.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

    add on lense ????

its a digicamcorder not a digital slr camera he needs, if it was a digital slr camera. i would go for canon 300d ( rebel in america) with standard 28 to 80 lense and then buy a 100 to 300 canon or 70 to 300 sigma ( more robust ) this will give you a focal length of 300 x 1.6 ( digital ) 480mm, which is cool for good action shots.

you will need to use an iso setting of 1600 ( more important than shutter speed ) as under lights at night u need to let in as much light as possible into the camera to produce a focused image.

oh and use manual setting and not sports as this will allow you to change iso setting and shutter speed to get the shots you want......there endith the lesson
