As the scoreline suggests, very easy for the home side in Ferrycarrig tonight against a very flat Cabinteely team who were in particular trouble at the back where they couldn't cope with the power of Rocks Keenan, the dribbling skills of Andy Mulligan and, especially, the finishing of Danny Furlong. Shane Keegan started with Graham in goal, a back four of Craig McCabe, Gary, Lee and Jimmy, a midfield of Peter, Jonny, Speedy and Andy and with Rocks and Danny up front. Youths started well and, after five minutes, Speedy pushed the ball past the opposing full back and smacked a good effort from about 20 yards out a foot over the right-hand corner of the goal. On 11 minutes, Youths went in front when a low corner from the left was allowed travel mysteriously along the ground all the way to the far post where Danny had only to tap in for 1-0. On 13 minutes, Rocks had an effort from 22 yards out which the Cabo keeper had to touch onto the post and away for a corner. First chance for Cabo came on 17 minutes when Graham just managed to reach a cross in front of the Cabo forward and was then fouled. On 21 minutes, Cabo's McGlynn got a yellow for a tackle on Speedy Whittle. On 28 minutes, Speedy again nearly set up Rocks inside the Cabo penalty area but Rocks was denied by a last-ditch tackle.

Rocks then put Danny through on goal with a deft headed flick on 39 minutes, but Danny didn't manage a clean strike with his left peg. However, a minute later, Andy Mulligan, coming in from the left, set up Danny inside the Cabobox with some neat footwork, and Danny's first-time shot went into the net off the Cabo keeper's hand for 2-0. With two minutes to go in the half, Graham Doyle in the Youth's goal had to scramble to collect a ball which a Cabo forward initially looked favourite to get. The ball was then transferred into the Cabo half, where Youths won a free-kick just outside the Cabo penalty area. Playing with the wind, Danny just had to get the ball over the Cabo wall, which he managed with ease for his own personal hat-trick and a well-deserved 3-0 advantage to the home side at half-time.

The two Wexford goals just before half-time seemed to kill off any prospect of a Cabo recovery as the away side were very sluggish throughout the second period. On 4 minutes, Danny headed just wide at the near-post from a Youth's corner and was disappointed that he didn't do better. However, he didn't have to wait long for his fourth as, three minutes later, more good footwork from Andy Mulligan set up Danny with an easy chance again, and he smacked it home for 4-0. On the hour mark, Drukie Drohan came on for Speedy Whittle who had put in a very good shift down the Youth's right side. With 17 minutes gone, Cabo had a rare effort on goal when O'Neill got a decent effort from 25 yards out on target, but Graham managed to push it away comfortably enough. Youths made it 5-0 on 28 minutes when the Cabo keeper dropped a routine catch straight at Rocks's feet for an easy finish. Then on 32 minutes, Jonny Bonner ran past the Cabo defence down the right too easily and then found Danny in the box who had to stretch to finish with his left for his fifth goal. With twelve minutes to go, Conor English and Deano Broaders came on in place of Rocks and Danny. Youth's seventh goal came with five minutes to go when Drukie was taken down by Aaron Briily inside the box. Deano took the peno which he sent to the keeper's left and in for a final score of 7-0.

In addition to the three Youth's forwards, impressive displays by Peter Higgins and Jonny Bonner in midfield and Gary Delaney at the back but Cabo will be very disappointed with that performance.

7-0 to the Youths at full-time and looked to be only 170 spectators or thereabouts at the match.
