Some from rural areas around the town. Then you would be looking at small towns like Ardee and Carrickmacross.

Other large towns around us have their own teams.

Newry City is 10 miles to the north and Drogheda United is 20 miles to the south.

Will the tickets still be a Tenner this year?
Also what was the price for premium level tickets for this match in previous years anyone remember?

I think 25,000 is achievable. No way will the 36,000 of the inaugural Aviva final ever be matched. I'd reckon about 8k that day were neutrals.

Looking at the clubs who have made it since 2010: Rovers, Sligo, Pats, Shels, Derry and Drogheda.
I'd Put Cork in the Rovers and Sligo brackets of support. Dundalk close to the Derry level and above Pats, Shels and Drogheda.
In that context it should easily surpass the Pats-Derry and Sligo vs Shels/Drogheda finals at the 17,000 mark.

Think I paid 15 for Sligo/Drogs premium seats.

    Are you off your head???

There will be a massive crowd from both sides because of the occasion.

Correct me if I am wrong but this our first final in landsdowne since 93 and corks since 07.

The buzz already around town for this is brilliant and even alot of folk who never set foot in oriel for instance want to go ( my fiance for instance and I will take my 2 year old). Also we are playing for a double (could be a quadruple).

i am certain that it is probably the same feeling in cork.

25k would be a decent estimate although conservative of the game but I would not be suprised if the 30k barrier would be broken depends really on the appeal of the game to neutrals

    .

So what is it? Am I off my head or are you also suggesting that despite the massive buzz it will also be 25,000 (plus the unlikely chance of 5000 neutrals turning up)?

Look I'd love for over 30,000 to be there but lets be realistic.
Dundalk will bring about 10,000 max, Cork 15,000 max. Neutrals have being dropping off each year, a lack of advertising, the novelty of the Aviva wearing off. Yeah I'll grant you a game between the top 2 might make it more appealing but I can't see it being considerable.
Dundalk is hamstrung by its catchment area, bringing maybe 25% of its surrounding population is good going but you can't really expect more.
Cork could be able to bring up 20,000 but its a long journey so thats not going to happen.

07 final was In RDS not landsdowne so it's even longer than that

This Cup Final is an opportunity or exercise now for the FAI to help promote domestic football. After the release of the recent report, the FAI should test their expertise and see how much they can persuade the general public to come out for the final. It's a chance to advertise and sell the game here and set a starting point for the future discussions on the game and if they can generate an interest and get a 25,000+ attendance at this final, it could demonstrate to interested sponsors on the potential here by getting involved in the clubs and the league.

Yes there's a piece of plastic draped across some of the seats so it would be logisitically impossible to change. German fans welcome though.

When do the Cup Final Tickets go on general sale. How do neutrals go about purchasing tickets.

The cynic in me thinks that the FAI will look and this game and be satisfied that 20,000 will attend with little marketing expense by them.

So no need for them to do anything or go to any bother.

It's going to be carnage outside, I hear there's 47 buses full of people coming from Dundalk and they've never even heard of football before.
    Here on a technicality.

I would not be surprised at all if the crowd is 30k or above. Two teams can both bring a good crowd and will easily bring 10k and above each. I would hope the weather is nice to bring as many neutrals as possible.

The 2010 final was a great game to be at. To see over 35,000 at a game between two LOI teams in a top class stadium was something to cherish really. It felt like a 'proper' game if you know what I mean.

Although I have never really warmed to the 'Aviva' in terms of Ireland games, there is no doubt about it that it alone is a big factor in increased attendances at finals since 2010.

They are in the intermediate A division, which is basically the fourth division in the north.
