The company that owns the club and holds the FAI licence holds an AGM each year I'm sure. There used to be club AGMs where the committee and officers were elected but that hasn't been the case for a while now. One man owns and controls the club really and is its largest creditor by a long way I'd imagine. The club would have folded a long time ago without him.

Last post on this subject as don't want to take the thread off track Any further but agree with Longfordian without our chairman there would be no LTFC so I'd never have a negative word to say about him but I think what fans are annoyed about is the rest of the boards efforts or lack of efforts in terms of marketing, social media, season tickets, club lotto, etc. Anyway back on topic should be some atmosphere at the cup final.Originally Posted by Longfordian
Delighted to be in a cup final for the first time in 8 years. After all the progress we have made last year and to a maybe lesser extent this year, it would be nice to have something to show for it. Obviously dundalk wouldn't be my opponent of choice in terms of difficulty but it should be a fantastic occasion and hopefully a game that lives up to its potential. We could've made it easier for ourselves today but we have mcnulty to thank for us getting through the closing stages with one brilliant save.

Apart from Rovers v Sligo, the avg in the Aviva was around 17k and that's very poor. This years final should exceed 25k

Why do you think so?
25k is a big ask. When we were going for the double in 2005, after winning the league there was an incredible buzz around the city. Everyone was talking about the Cup final. Drogheda has a huge crowd that day too and it still didn't break the 25k.
How many do you think Dundalk can bring?
I think Imo conservative estimate would be 10k. That saying everyone knows how special this team is and they will be playing for a league and cup double.
I hope there is more and by what ticket prices have been in the past it should be a fantastic opportunity to showcase our league.

There was a huge amount of neutrals, many of whom took the opportunity of the cheap tickets to see the recently opening Aviva stadium.
25,000 is a big ask for this game. it would require a major push by the FAI to get the wider sporting public interested. Will they spend the money needed to market the game?
Agreed. We'd all love an amazing attendance but it will take a lot of marketing work from both clubs and the FAI for it to happen. I'm confident City have a plan or are finalising one now. The billboards have worked well this year and will help. But, I'd be over the moon if we got 10,000 to travel to Dublin for this. That's 3 times our average attendance travelling 4 hours to watch us play.
Are they cycling or walking?
Most will be getting a bus I'd imagine. A bus from Cork City to landsdowne is easily a 4 hour journey. Google maps has it at 3 hours in a car. Jump in a bus with a stop along the way as would be the norm and it's 4 hours. Most people won't come 20 minutes down to road to see City play on a Friday!
It's a serious journey from Cork to the Aviva, particularly if you are bringing you children.
Dundalk have the advantage of being closer to Dublin. Also, I heard that the club are organising special trains that will bring fans directly from the train station beside Oriel Park to the Aviva. There was talk this morning of special family only carriages.
Assume Cork would be able to put on a few chartered trains if there's sufficient demand?
Surprised to see Cork and Dundalk fans saying they only expect 25,000. Decent weather and a poor EPL game and I'd expect 30,000. Both sides haven't been to the cup final in years, there seems to be a buzz around both clubs at the moment, especially Dundalk, some people in Cork and Dundalk might not have been to Lansdowne since it was done up and might think this will be a great opportunity to do so, plus culchies love a big day out in Dublin.
If Sligo can bring 10-12,000+ so can Cork and Dundalk.

You do realise that the population of Dundalk is about 30,000.
It may be a football town, but to bring 33% of the population is some ask.
All of Dundalks support is from Dundalk the same way all of Finn Harps support is from Ballybofey.

Sure the population of Sligo is only 20k. Are ye bandwagon jumpers or not?
