    Cian Bolger

    http://www.soccerbase.com/players/pl...layer_id=58218

Scored and kept a clean sheet at the weekend for promotion chasing Southend.

He has came in for some heavy criticism but has answered critics recently by helping Southend to five consecutive clean sheets.

He has 15 clean sheets in 20 appearances this season, which is phenomenal.

Sounds a real prospect at just 23!!!
6'4 too!! That is 2 inches taller than the tallest we currently have (Westwood and Forde)

I think Daryl Murphy, Damien Delaney, Richard Keogh, David Meyler and John O'Shea are all 6 ft 3.

I would have thought Forde was taller than Westwood.

    Bring back Caleb Folan.

edit: are Forde and Westwood really only an inch taller than Given?

Saw Bolger play briefly for Noel King's U21s, but he only really appeared as a substitute so didn't really see enough to make a judgement. Players like Bolger and Kevin Long were kept out of the team mostly by the likes of Duffy, Kiernan, Egan, McGinty and Williams. All big, tall, hefty guys.

    Meh, swings and roundabouts.

There were some disciplinary issues at times, I believe. Either way, he was last seen in November on loan at Halifax in the Conference for 2 games. His contract is up at Rochdale this summer and the lack of mention on the appearances listing here suggests it won't be renewed: http://www.rochdaleafc.co.uk/stats/player-stats/

7 successive clean sheets and 17 clean sheets in 22 games for Bolger after Michael Timlin's goal secures a 1-0 win against Luton. Southend will secure promotion to League One with a victory in their final game.

If Southend go up they will have to do it the hard way. They lost 3-1 away to Morecambe, while Bury defeated Tranmere to go up automatically.

Inauspicious end to the season for Donnelly, who faded after a bright start at Tranmere.

Bolger scored his sixth goal of the season and fourth in thirteen games to earn Fleetwood victory over Walsall: http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/39188604 - the win keeps Fleetwood in the second automatic play-off spot, albeit having played one more game than Bolton. If they can push on and gain promotion (or if he can get an upward move himself a la John Egan), he could soon be on the radar for the international team. Interesting how a free transfer to Fleetwood may have ended up moving his career to a higher lever - let's hope he can take advantage of it.

He has been a tough one to figure out. Plenty game time at Bristol Rovers followed by a lateral move to Bolton and fits and spurts since but looks like he's settled at Fleetwood and they are sitting pretty for the Championship next season. All the best to him.

Jamie Vardy's return to Fleetwood stole the headlines but Bolger starts against his former club. Live on BBC 1 now. Vardy not even in the Leicester squad after all the fuss.
