I took a lot more positives than negatives from the draw. 11 vs 11, we are the better team, they are very pedestrian. Rovers are tactically poor as well as their efforts to get a winner showed. Sometimes you get bad decision in a game and you have to live with them. Many teams would have crumbled at the injustice and get another player sent off.
The negative was the performance of the defence, they very uncertain at times. Are they over-confident? Boyle would have been coached since a kid not to let the ball leading up to the equaliser bounce. Just put it out for a throw.
To see Rovers celebrate scraping a draw at home against 10 men as if they won the Double. Well, that was priceless.
The odds on Rovers winning the title probably lengthened after last nights performance and result. When they were unable to win at home against a title rival who is down to 10 men for nearly half the match, it tells a lot about their title winning potential.
There is a long way to go and any of the top five could conceivably be title contenders.
But you didn't really compete! You were 2 down 11 v 11 and looked buried! Rovers only got on top after the sending off and awful peno decision. Also you keep mentioning the 2 awful goals you conceded no mention of the mistakes that got you the draw. I thought Rovers were very poor against 10 men. I'm less worried about them after last night. As you say though, long way to go
Yet again, you make an incorrect assumption (you seem to specialise in this Charlie!)
Rovers may have played better last night then in other some other matches this season, but they certainly did not look like potential title winners to me.
Without Doyle's astonishing blunder (Soccer Republic footage will clarify it was not a penalty) it was impossible to see Rovers getting back in to the game - at 11 v 11 there was only one winner likely to emerge.
It is possible that Rovers will improve, but last nights performance or result was not the mark of potential champions
It was a competitive game for 44 minutes, then Dundalk got two good goals from sloppy mistakes. Until then, neither side was looking like running away with it. I didn't think Rovers did brilliantly against 10 men but they did score another goal and Dundalk played very well, particularly after O'Donnell came on. I didn't mention Dundalk's mistakes because I'm not judging both teams, I'm judging Rovers' performance.
Fair enough. I'd say, based solely on last night, there's not a whole lot between the teams. I wouldn't base any judgement on one game though.
Cork fans are being very quiet! Quiet and unassuming this season trying to stay off radar..Cork are showing something of the relentless form they were in from July last season.
Its a shame though as I looked forward to CityRebels assessment of the virtuous Cork City performances, please ask him to come back! 2 points off top and the visit of the top placed side next week assuming no slip up on Monday with due respect to Galway and Longford. Its a tough 7 days for Dundalk and depending on things by 10pm next Friday there'll be a clearer picture of where teams are compared to last season. Psychologically a big night for Cork as much as anything. Longford could be a handful away though.
Longford playing away i meant but no matter. They showed enough in Oriel to suggest that they can get results and like other teams will improve as games go on. I just hope the go with 2 up top as they were a different team when they went more positive against us and probably should have gotten a draw.
Great to be reading the big boys don't look forward to playing us 😂 Wel take our beating Monday and focus on at least a point against the Drogs. We just need to keep picking up points.
Wexford 0-1 Finn Harps.
20 to go. McMonagle goal for Harps from a corner. Around 400 at the game, poor attendance for a top of the table game.

Harps down to ten men with 7 minutes left to play.

what is it about this forum and its ability to attract utter f.ckwits once they win a 1st league in donkeys years.
sligo had them, pats had them , now its seemingly dundalks turn.
stop sniffing that diesel your brethren are peddling and get your head ouuta your ass.
do any of the dundalk fans on here have any semblance of rationality to their posts or is it all the "in-like- Maxi" approach with them?
Dalymountrower -if bohs can keep their first X11 fit & healthy there's no reason they shouldnt target 5th place.
pi$$y pants is destroying Shligo, and Derry are going backwards under pizza.
Keith Long is definitely a manger for the future, and has the nous to do very well at bohs.
oehhh i feel all weird now saying nice things about boez!
Shamrock Rovers- Where trophies are won and envy is scarce
Some turnaround for Cobh. 2 wins and a draw in their last 3 after looking like another season of doom at the bottom of the table. Stephen Henderson coming in may have steadied the ship a bit.
Shelbourne are in all sorts of trouble this year.
