Total opposite...these know how to play and will be no fools - they were in the Champions League before, are experienced and don't seem to bothered by playing on neutral ground if necessary.

    Very difficult draw, imo.

Kuyt or Torres will sign for us then just after that the takeover by the Krafts will take place (by 1st September) enabling us to have the money by end of September when the Objective 1 money runs out for our new Anfield stadium. We will then be on the same financial footing as Chelski, not that Rafa is as stupid as that Portugese **** with money.
1st place please !! back to where we belong

Hmmm, lets hope you're right but it all sounds a bit delusional to me....

Kuyt is a decent player, very powerful, good in the air and would probably do very well in the Premiership. Especially if you're looking at Gonzalez/Kewell/Pennant swinging in crosses at every chance.

He's not very mobile though and not very technically good. But neither is Drogba and he's done fine..... Can't see us signing a Torres 'cos we simply don't have the money. Who would I sign? Dean Ashton - completely under-rated, top class player and the next Teddy Sheringham in the making. Far better option than Kuyt IMO.....

Ashton is a good player alright and I wouldn't be adverse to taking him. Has a good brain as well as an eye for goal and the reference to Sheringham isn't too far off the mark IMO.

surely on the basis of the world cup you would have to pick klose over ronaldihno too then!!! NONE of the "big" players played brilliantly in the world cup bar cannavaro and zindane to a lesser extent.

Use a bit of common sense eh Jockser...and before the World Cup I wouldn't have regarded Kuyt as a big player (yet). Torres wouldn't have been classed as in the top tier yet either but he's closer to it than Kuyt.

based on what lad? how many times have you watch kuyt play ? all im saying is you cannot not judge any player from how they played in the world cup. in my opinion kuyt would be more effective than torres in the premiership, but sure its all just guessing and presuming anyway!

I've only seen Kuyt play a couple of times before the World Cup, both times he didn't score but it was evident that he worked hard for the team. Torres is technically better IMO although I have only seen him on a handful of occasions too.

All I'm saying is that based on World Cup showings, I'd prefer Torres. Yes I know it's not the complete book but it was a simple explanatary statement...

    'Pool 2 - 1 M Haifa

Well we weren't too hot last night, although you could see that most of the players were not fully fit. Except Sissoko who was everywhere again. Thought Pennant played very well and his link up play with Finnan looks promising to say the least. His crossing was top notch, but again Crouch's headers were too weak to trouble the 'keeper. That's why Benitez is probably after Kuyt more than anything else. Bellamy played well but I thought he drifted out wide/dropped deep too much. Gonzalez looked sharp, good finish but what was better was his run into the box for the goal. We look like we have some great options on the flanks now. Early days yet though!

Ditto for the second leg. If they go 1-0 up, Liverpool are in big big trouble..

I expect Liverpool to win away by which time they'll have a few more games under their belt. They were sluggish at times but should be sharper come the 2nd leg. The Israeli's were good on the counter but it'll be different over there as they will be expected to attack more. They won't sit as deep so I expect Liverpool to expose them at the back a bit more with Gonzalez, Pennant and Bellamy's pace causing them major problems.

We looked good today but can't really read too much in to the Community Shield. Good performance though, great pace to the side now which is really exciting. Sissoko was superb again. The man is just a machine. Thought Agger had a good game, looks like a sound defender. Benitez made the right subs at the right times again and it made the difference in the end. Chelski looked unfit and subdued and the turn out from their fans was a disgrace. Thought Ballack was a load of bo||ocks.....

Bought my ticket for the Merseyside Derby today. Glawdys St. Row CC right behind the goal. Hopefully we'll see Andy Johnson become a Goodison Hero!
