Scored tonight v Plymouth, as did Williams. O'Brien has been involved a fair bit so far in the league too this season so far.

A bit of a surprise? Former Millwall player O'Brien has moved from Sunderland to Portsmouth on a free transfer (BBC Football). Of course it's colder in the north-east, where he scored 12 goals in 66 appearances.

I was surprised Sunderland didn’t use him much.
He was decent in Championship for Milwall and didn’t get much of a run of games with Sunderland.
Often sprung from bench it seems

O'Brien seems to have been desperate to get away from Sunderland and Lee Johnson -- in January he took a 3 month contract at Portsmouth. After O'Brien scored 4 goals in 10 appearances for Pompey, manager Danny Cowley wants to extend that contract. (The News, Portsmouth, 7 April).

O'Brien signed for Shrewsbury last summer, but has struggled with a groin injury and has yet to start a game for them; he has made five appearances from the bench, but is currently not fit enough for Steve Cotterill to put him in the squad. (Shropshire Star, 26 December, Sunderland Echo, 7 January)

Has dropped further down the football pyramid with a loan switch to Sutton of League Two.
