Aiden McGeady set up the opening goal for Celtic reserves 1-1 draw with Aberdeen reserves. According to the Celtic review he was involved in a lot of the attacking play. I'd like to see him get a run in the reserves to build up his confidence before coming back into the senior side.
Darren O'Dea came on at half time, and Diarmuid O'Carroll played the last 10 minutes or so.

    cardiff v leicester 1-0

Maybury played the 90 and had a late equaliser chalked off for a narrow controversial offside.

McCarthy came off the bench with 25 to go as leicester wanted to move Dublin upfront.he did fine when he came on.

Sheehan was dropped despite a sound home debut on sat when the defence managed a rare clean sheet,

leicester, again, conceded the winner from a set piece early on in the game so recent chopping and changing of the defence, which has cost McCarthy and now Sheehan their places hasnt eradicated the problems.

leicester reserves v watford reserves 2-0

Logan,in goal, and Sheehan at leftback both played the 90 in this one lastnight.neither recieves special mention in the report, good or bad but the manager was happy with the defending as a whole and the clean sheet.it was Logans first reserve start of the season and the teams first victory and first clean sheet.

I'm watching the match atm. It was a superb deep cross by McGeady to set up the goal.

He's on the bench this afternoon against Bolton at the City of Manchester stadium. I expect him to be the same for the midweek League Cup game with Doncaster

    <EDIT>
Saw the highlights on Sky Sports last night, Ireland came on late on for Joey Barton (who had a fantastic game), and should have scored with his first touch, a volley from near the penalty spot. He looked a little lost at first, but once he got on the ball, he looked good. From what I saw last night, and from what I've been reading around, he's more of a Scholes-type attacking central midfielder, than a ball winning Keane/Gerrard/Lampard style player. Here's hoping he continues to develop.

    wolves v leicester 0-0

leicester went 4-5-1 here and set out not to lose.

Maybury played the 90 at right back and was solid in a busy afternoon for the defence.

McCarthy earned a recall to the side as the usual centre-half,johannson, moved to the problem left-back position for this game,by all accounts he did well on his return and played next to Dion Dublin in the middle,he did pick up another booking though, his fourth of the campaign.

neither Sheehan or Logan made the 16.

heres a recent interview with Craig Levein about the leicester defence this season,in it he speaks specifically about McCarthy.

When will Leicester City finally cure that set-just piece problem that has stalled their opening to the season?

That is a question that Craig Levein thought he had answered until it leapt up to bite him again at Cardiff on Tuesday night, just when City hoped to build on their clean-sheet victory against Sheffield Wednesday the previous Saturday.

The solution might have to wait a bit as Levein has hinted strongly it could lie in Swedish stopper Patrik Gerrbrand, who was developing his full fitness when he was carried off on his debut at Bury in the Carling Cup last month.

The City boss revealed that, if Gerrbrand had been fit, he would have played in the last two games in which Dion Dublin was drafted again into the back four as he felt Paddy McCarthy needed a rest.

Not that the promising Irishman is being discarded, far from it as City feel his potential is beyond question, and Levein explained: "You have to remember that he came to us having hardly played a first-team game at Manchester City and has now featured in about 20-odd games for us, which is quite a big ask for a young lad. I felt he just needed a break.

"There were one or two things in his game that dropped below his standard and I thought it was important to give him a rest. Maybe a few games out will see Paddy's enthusiasm back, along with the realisation that he can be dropped. But he will come back at some point.

Karl Bermingham has extended his loan at Burnley by another month.
Read more on Burnley's site here
To be honest, he hasn't set the world on fire at Burnley, but he was only brought in as cover, rather than a definite starter.

It was Thomas Butler who set up Daly to score
Sean Thorton's brother Kevin made his competitive debut for Coventry, Michael Doyle played but Flood wasn't in the squad - probably part of the loan deal that he doesn't get cup tied. Bermingham wasn't in the Burnley squad either, which would seem to confirm this.
Neither Clinton nor Macken played for Palace, but according to a Palace-following mate of mine, it's all about the league for them this season

Yeah, Palace have played 2 completely different 11's in their Carling cup games this season. Nice to have that strength in depth in the lower divisions.

    leicester v blackpool 2-1

Sheehan and McCarthy played the 90 and Maybury had a slight knock but was on the bench.Logan also made the bench.

it was the first time in this managers reign, and as far as i know, ever, that Logan has made the bench.previously 5 outfield players had made up the numbers ahead of him when the first choice keeper didnt play.no pionts at stake but still a bit of progress for him.good to see.

McCarthy was generally solid, avoided getting booked and saw the game out fairly comfortably.he did give away a couple of free kicks when challenging in the air for having his elbows on the shoulders of the attacker.

Sheehan played his second 90 of the season and did well,he blasted a free kick through the wall on 15 which the keeper spilled and on 20 it was his upfield pass to DeVries which brought about the opening goal for leicester as the keeper came and failed to hold it and got chipped.he showed for it all through the game and was comfortable in posession.

the blackpool goal was an individual error from Johannson so no fault of McCarthy or Sheehans.

Timlin starts tonight for Fulham. We have talk about him on here before. However, this BBC link says his nationality is English but he has 1 cap for the Irish U-21s

Set up the final goal for Brian McBride. Playing on the left according to the link on fulham's site here but I was under the impression he is a striker?

Colin Cryan (previously with Sunderland) was playing for Lincoln

Paul Heffernan came on for Doncaster against Man City, improved their forward paly a bit and had a few shots. Scored what proved to be the winning penalty
