Chris McCann made his debut for Burnley at the weekend. Played well.

BTW, I never realised McShane was so small.

Looks like Willo Flood is going on loan to Coventry. Like I said before on foot.ie, Stuart Pearse doesn't rate him and his days at City are numbered, when you consider that City have also sold SWP.
Always look on the bright side of life

More about Willo going on loan here - http://www.manchesteronline.co.uk/sp..._coventry.html
Don't think it's that Pearce doesn't rate him, just that Willo needs more experience, and also to build himself up. Croft was in the same situation last season and went out on loan to Oldham. Came back a different player and got into the first team for the last few games of the season.

Isn't that meant to be Owen Garvan of Ipswich (f**k he's been hit with the Brady curse now and will never amount to anything).

Stephen Ireland scored one and created the other for Man City reserves in a 2-1 win over Boro's reserves.
This is his first game since coming back from a broken wrist and Pearce has already said he's in his thoughts for the first team this season

Karl Bermingham was due to play in the game, but pulled out as he has joined Burnley on a month's loan

here's an interview with Paddy McCarthy from the leicester 'blue army' site.

    Paddy power!

    by BILL ANDERSON

Leicester City defender Paddy McCarthy is doing just what he came here for - establishing himself as a first-team regular.

After being on the fringes at Manchester City before his switch here in March, McCarthy believes the tough start to the season so far will do him no harm at all.

The centre-back responded to the physical battering of Stoke's Mamady Sidibe last midweek to resolutely contain Ipswich pair Sam Parkin and Nicky Forster at the Walkers Stadium on Saturday.

And the 22-year-old acknowledges the help from City boss Craig Levein is important this season.

McCarthy said: "I just want to establish myself. I was involved in most of the games last season after I came here and this time I want to play as many as possible. Then I will improve as a player, that is my aim.

"Yes, Sidibe was an awkward opponent. The gaffer talks me through things and it is a good learning curve.

"We looked at the video and pointed out a few things, so the next time I come up against someone like that in this league I will be better prepared.

"A lot of teams in this division have a big centre-forward so it will do me good."

The general idea is that McCarthy will develop alongside Sweden's Nissa Johansson, and losing six goals, albeit two penalties, in the first two games might not have looked too impressive.

Is it working well? McCarthy admits: "I wouldn't say that after the first two games! But we had a clean sheet next time out.

"Nissa is good on the ball, very calm round the defence and has the experience that comes from a lot of games in the Premiership. That is good for the team and, playing alongside him, I am going to learn a lot.

"It is important because we look really good going forward. We are going to improve the longer the season goes on. There are a lot of new faces but we are reasonably pleased so far."

Levein admired McCarthy's defensive qualities, but he must also be pleased that his distribution appears to have improved.

McCarthy said: "The boss thinks I have improved on that side of my game and that is exactly why I am here, to learn and gain more confidence."

Sounds like Anthony Stokes played well against Coventry reserves, albeit from what seems to be his regular right wing position. Graham Barrett scored the winner for Coventry. The French will be quaking in their boots!

Sean Kelly played 45 minsas well, but no sign of Cregg or Connolly. Isn't Shane Treacy, unused sub, Irish? Coventry's Thornton is Irish I think.

Match Report below. It seems Arsenal reserves play Leicester reserves on August 30th, admission free at Barnet FC. Crafty - I assume there could be the likes of Logan & Sheehan in Leicester's team.

I might try & go up to see Stokes for the first time.

There's a highly rated guy called James Simmonds at Chelsea but not sure if he's still in the academy.

    Burnley loan move for Bermingham

    August 17, 2005

Manchester City ’s Irish striker Karl Bermingham has moved to Coca Cola championship side Burnley on a month’s loan in order to give himself some much needed first team football.

Bermingham has not made a competitive appearance for City since joining them but has made a name for himself with the reserves, scoring frequently for the City second team.

The 19-year-old spent time on-loan with League Two side Lincoln City last season where he made two substitute appearances for the club during his three month stay.

Bermingham is rated very highly by City and manager Stuart Pearce is keen to give the Irishman first team experience this season.

Haven't seen it mentioned on the board yet, Jon Douglas has gone to Leeds for a season long loan, came on today against Wolves.
It does look like his Blackburn career is over

Details of the loan here - http://www.leedsunited.com/article.a...avlid=newsroom
Match report VS Wolves - http://www.leedsunited.com/report.as...navlid=matches

Willo Flood started for Coventry in their 3-0 win over QPR, the official site report describes him as a "decent player", he was substituted late on, he was also booked.
Read the match report here - http://www.ccfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page...~29658,00.html

Karl Bermingham started for Burnley in their 3-1 loss to Watford. Oddly enough he was on the right side of midfield, but still had a decent shot saved.

Burgess' goal was quite good. He actually carried the ball about 50 yards, albeit uncontested, and tried to place it past the 'keeper but it came back off the post. The rebound fell right to him though and a simple tap in resulted. He was elated aswell.

Supple and garvan played in Ipswich's 2-1 win. Doyle got 30 mins for Reading who are now top I think.

I think it was Flood who put in a lovely cross for Coventry's first goal too, but not sure.

    crew v leicester 2 - 2

McCarthy and Maybury both played the 90.Connolly missed out with a slight strain.neither Sheehan or Logan were involved.

i wasnt at this one but the reports dont mention Maybury was particularly good or bad,McCarthy was booked when Varney had outpaced him and he pulled him down,it was his 3rd booking in 4 games so far this season.other than that he hasnt been picked out as especially good or bad either in any reports, although the leicester defence as a whole has come in for some stick as they were 2 down in just over 15 mins.

the lad who came in for Connolly, hammond, whos on loan from fulham,is said to have missed 3 presentable chances to win it for leicester.

Stephen Ireland started for Man City's reserves and Liam Miller started for Man United's reserves in the Manchester Senior Cup game last night.

It finished 0-0 with United advancing on penalties.

Ireland seemed to be involved in everything good Man City did, whereas Miller seemed to improve as the game went on, before being substituted towards the end of the game

the leicester sites are full of this this morning, some are saying its a done deal and riordan of hibs is as good as a done deal to replace him.these rumours always seem to surface when he hasnt played the prevoius game,as in pre season, when he missed 3 games,it was sunderland he was linked with as he turned McCarthy down last year to join leicester.

the wigan offer is rumoured to be 1.5 million,a million profit for leicester.i havent mentioned it up to now as,i genuinely am none the wiser than any of you. publicly,at least, the manager always speaks of him as a big part of his plans, but that could be just driving a hard bargain.

we wait and see, from the irish point of view i suppose another guy in the prem is good news, but i know the fans at leicester desperately want him to stay.
