Alan McCormack of Preston has gone on loan to Motherwell. He played in the 4-4 draw against Celtic. Instigated the 1st goal against them and assisted for the second. He's not an amazing player but he plays to his strengths and keeps it simple.
Andy O'Brien played the full game in Portsmouth's 2-0 defeat by Inter Milan. No mention of him in any match report, so at least he wasn't blamed for any of the goals!

Is Paul McCarthy (from The Glen in Cork) still playing for Wycombe Wanderers? He was close to the Irish squad, but Alan Kernaghan edged him out.Originally Posted by eirebhoy

There was a Team by Team premiership pullout in yesterdays Herald in which advocates for each club waffled about their respective clubs. One question was about young players to which Mario Melchiot singled out Marcos Painter a great talent and mentioned he was Irish. Anyone heard of him??
Painter is a defender I think. A match report on soccercentral.ie a few months ago said he scored against MUFC's reserves which included Paul McShane. I've heard he's good but he's not included in the senior squad on Birmingham's website. I just did a google search and he broke a guy's leg in two places on their recent tour of Norway. No other news though.
Edit: Just found this profile on the FAI website. Let's hope he doesn't do a Leon Best!
Born in England, but with an Irish grandmother, Marcos Painter made his international debut last year in the Oporto Tournament impressing manager Sean McCaffrey enough to keep his place for the European Championship qualifiers. A solid defender, he is highly-rated by Birmingham.

What ever happened to Stephen Bradley, last I heard he was at Dunfermilne but got released.
Yeah I've heard of him. He's a full back. Left footer I think. There was an article in the sun on him a while ago regarding badly injuring someone in one of Birmingham's pre season friendlies with a horrific tackle.Originally Posted by dr_peepee

SEAGULLS SWOOP FOR McSHANE
Brighton have completed the signing of Manchester United youngster Paul
McShane on a five-month loan deal.
The 19-year-old centre-back has agreed terms with the Seagulls and will now
link up with his new team-mates ahead of Saturday's Championship clash with
Derby.
Manager Mark McGhee is delighted with his new signing and also hopes to tie up
a deal for Aston Villa goalkeeper Wayne Henderson.
``We're pleased to have Paul joining us. He's exactly the type of player we
want at this time and we think he'll be good for us,'' he told the club's
official website, www.seagulls.co.uk.
``We wanted to bring someone in who was similar to Barry Ashby, who we looked
at last week, but maybe a bit younger. Paul is that type of player. We've had
him watched, and he played well, so we're looking forward to working with
him.''

Good to see McShane going on loan to a Championship team.
Marcos Painter has just been given squad no. 31 so he now in the senior squad at Birmingham. Kenny Cunningham is no. 4 and Clinton no. 19. Ominously for Clinton Pandiani and Forssell have been given 8 and 9 respectively. Colin Doyle has been given no. 13 suggesting he is now no. 2 'keeper which is good news.
With Pandiani, Heskey and Forrsell all at Birmingham now, what price a loan deal for Clinton before the transfer window closes? Elliott is snapping at his heels at international level, and I've a strong feeling David Connolly will have a great season (no laughing at the back!!) so he's going to need first team football to keep his international starting spot.
Stephen Ireland and Willo Flood both on the bench for man city against Olympiacos, Ireland came on to set up the second goal in a 3-1 win.
Doesn't mention Flood in the report on the official site, but it's only a premliminary, I'll post a full one later
report from manchesteronline here - http://www.manchesteronline.co.uk/sp...mpiacos_1.html
Yeah, he probably will but has proved time and time again that he is a good championship striker who cant make the step up. Kerr was at the leicester vs sheff utd game today.. and Connolly scored. But Maybury,Kenny and McCarthy also played with Alan Quinn an unused sub.None of the irish lads did badly.Originally Posted by tetsujin1979
