Yeah Iam sure if you go on the F.A.I website and then get the squad list up for the U 17 you will find him there.I found it strange why he not been in the last few U 17 squads, not just him but Stephen Ireland and Karl Bermingham have not been in any squads recently and they all play for Man City.

Michael Timlin scored 2 as Fulham res beat Arsenal res 5-1 last night. Stephen O'Donnell and Tony Stokes both started for Arsenal, Sean Kelly came on from the bench. Stokes played on the wing again. Stokes and O'Donnell set up Arsenal's only goal which Aliadiere scored. Cregg is still injured.

BTW - It has been mentioned on here before but the Arsenal scouts much like Irish names. Also in the starting lineup were Sean Clohessy, Matthew Connolly and Mitchell Murphy. Murphy plays for the English underage teams but i don't know where the other two are from.

There was a Stephen O'Donnell on the bench for Boston today, does anyone know if that's Arsenal's O'Donnell?

Kevin Foley scored for Luton today.

Good to see Kelly still starting even with Pamarot fit. Also good to see Keane scoring, Defoe playing bad and Reid playing well.

Stephen Hunt scored for Brentford. Kevin O'Connor, Jay Tabb, Joey O'Brien and Glenn Whelan also started that game.

Mark Quigley started for Millwall, only his first or second game for them this season.

Stephen Irelands name is not likely to be seen in any Irish under-age squads, he withdrew himself from Kerrs panel during an u-17 qualifying tourney in his native Cork two years ago as he was not getting selected. There was a lot of local press about it and Kerr is unlikely to forget it. He is u-19 now.

Flood on the bench for Man City tonight at Norwich (wasnt brought on). The Doc and Dunne were not in either squad.

Obviously Duffer and Finnan played full game (+ Extra Time) in the Carling Cup final. Though both played well, esp Duff given the number of hours he'd played over the previous week, and all effectivly away games (ie significant travel). Given and Carr played for Newcastle at home to Bolton (2-1), O'Brien not in squad.

Matty Holland scored (good goal, looked like it may have been deflected tho) and seemed to play well in general for the 90 mins at M'Boro (2-2).

Delap played full 90 for Southampton vs Arsenal (1-1). As did Kilbane (in Everton's 3-1 victory at Villa), Stephen Kelly and Andy Reid (for Spurs v Fulham 2-1), Robbie came on on 60 mins and scored. O'Shea played full 90 for Man Utd vs Portsmouth, Roy Keane was rested, Liam Miller was not in the squad.

Clinton played for B'ham at Palace, had a bad game, crowd was on his back (ex-Palace player) and taken off around 60th min.

To add to what others have said from the lower leagues:-

    - Michael Doyle (21y/o, MID) played for Cov., but Barrett didnt.
    - Alan Mahon (still only 25) didnt play for Wigan and they lost
    - Rowlands played (full 90) for QPR in a good away win (2-0) at Ipswich
    - Gallen (supposedly qualifies for us) also played in the above (didnt score)
    - C. Doyle (the GK on loan from B'ham) on the bench for Forest vs Derby
    - Coughlan had a good game for Plymouth (3-0 home to Crewe)
    - Kitson played for Reading in the 0-0 at home to Leicester (scored but dissallowed).
    - David Connolly played in the above 0-0
    - Alan Quinn played full 90 for Sheff Utd in 1-0 win home to Rotherham (was lively according to soccernet).
    - Gary Breen scored again for Sunderland (2-1 v Cardiff), Elliott played almost the whole game, no Sean Thornton tho.
    - In same game Kav played the full 90, Alan Lee came on (58 min) but sadly was given a Red Card (90th min, elbow)
    - Breen's goal happened as Kav and Wheston (both Cardiff players) ran into each other given Gary an absolute sitter, but that aside Kav had a good game by all accounts.
    - Mark Kennedy played the last 15 or so mins of Wolves 0-0 at home to Watford.

    - McPhail played full 90, had a good game and scored for Barnsley vs Torquay (4-1)
    - Gareth O'Connor (26) played for Bournemouth vs Tranmere, as did James O'Connor (21 on loan from Villa) match was pretty dire to be honest.
    - Players from Brentford - Sheff Wed have been outlined in a previous post.
    - Joe Murphy played in Walsall's 1-1 at home to Bradford.

Sifting thru the info we seem to have a lot of young players taking free kicks for teams in "The Championship" (eg Alan Quinn, Marty Rowlands, Alan Mahon - usually).

Also Sunderland are on TV (vs Burnley) this friday so hopefully that will give us a chance to see Breen, Thornton and Elliott.

Does anyone know if Aiden Palmer of Leyton Orient is qualified for us?

Err, Dunne played the full 90 minutes. With Stephen Jordan suspended and Nedum Onuha injured for the next game, Paddy McCarthy could get into the squad for Bolton at the weekend.

Darren Gibson was singled out for special praise for Man Utd's acadamy against Man City on Sunday.

Gibson shines, but City hold Reds to 1-1 draw

    FA Academy Premier League
    Manchester City 1
    Manchester United 1
    Platt Lane, Moss Side

Manchester United's attempt to claim top spot in Group C of the Academy Premier League was again hampered with a second successive 1-1 draw, this time to their city neighbours.

The Reds were held to a 1-1 stalemate by Wolves last weekend and suffered the same fate in Moss Side on Saturday.

Francisco Filho's young charges are involved in a three-way battle in Group C - the North West regional division - with City and Blackburn Rovers.

United made the perfect start to this mini derby when the impressive Darron Gibson's long ball sent Fraizer Campbell bearing down on goal. The Reds' top goalscorer smashed his volley past Kasper Schmeichel to put United in front.

Campbell went close moments later with a glancing header, while Gibson could have doubled United's lead with a rasping long-range effort that fizzed just past the Schmeichel's left post.

The second half saw City put pressure on the Reds, the home side twice hit the woodwork.

But United could have put the game out of reach when substitute Phil Marsh found Campbell in the City penalty area. But the Huddersfield-born striker was heavy with his touch, and his close-range effort looped harmlessly over.

Disaster struck just as United were nearing a valuable 1-0 away victory; Reds keeper Lee Crockett losing out on a 50-50 race for the ball for City to snatch a point.

United's players were disappointed to let their lead slip so close to full-time, especially considering the standard of football produced during the opening 45 minutes from the Reds.

"We battled well in the first half, but let ourselves down a bit in the second half," United goalscorer Fraizer Campbell told MUTV. "They're always competitive matches."

"It was very tough because they're a physical side," added United defender Danny Simpson. "We're disappointed that we conceded the goal. We played very good football in the first half. After half time City started playing long ball because they had some big lads up front. And eventually they got the goal through doing that."

Simpson picked out midfield team-mate Darron Gibson for praise. The Derry-born player has been in fine form at Academy level.

"Darron's been in good form for us, not just recently but all season," he said. "It was a great pass for our goal and Fraizer did well to finish it off."

Blackburn beat Liverpool 1-0 on Saturday to move a point clear at the top of the league.
He seems to be doing well for the U18's. Here's a piece from the Liverpool game earlier in month:
...while Darron Gibson orchestrated the team's attacking moves in the middle of the park.

Gibson engineered two of United's best chances in the first half, one of which led to Campbell's goal.

The Derry-born midfielder possesses a powerful shot and after 20 minutes saw his low 25-yard strike rebound off the post.
Liam Miller will play for the United reserves tonight. Partridge and Potter will be in opposing team.

Miller scored the only goal as United beat Liverpool 1-0, a volley from 20 yards. Partridge had two fine shots saved. Potter also started.

Patrick Boyle scored the only goal for Everton against Villa. It looks like he was playing up front. Wayne Henderson and Stephen Foley were in the Villa team.

Paddy McCarthy and Stephen Ireland played for Man City's reserves in the 3-3 draw with West Brom's reserves.

Ireland set up the first goal and won the penalty to make it 2-0.

However West Brom pulled it back to 2-1, then Ishmael Miller (still nothing about an Irish connection) made it 3-1 before 2 goals in the second half left it at 3-3.

Willo Flood was on the bench against Norwich on monday and probably will be again against Bolton on this coming monday.

Mark Kennedy played the full 90 for Wolves tonight in their 3-3 @ Derby. Kenna played the full 90 for Derby (but I assume he's retired from the national team).

Robbie Keane played (full 90) and scored for Spurs in their 3-0 Cup win at Forest. Kelly also played the full 90, Doyle was on the bench for Forest. Andy Reid was cup tied I assume.

That sets up a good game (in terms of watching players for our national team) in a few weeks. Spurs - Newcastle, hopefully Keane, Given, Kelly, Carr and O'Brien will all play.

Looks good for Kelly if he can keep his place in the team with Pamarot back, it was Pamarot's spot he took

He's down as English in Football Manager and I'm sure if he was Irish he'd have some sort of cap for us. Not a lot about him on google.

What is it with Ian Richardson and Irish keepers?

    Elliot impresses

The loan of goalkeeper Robert Elliot at Notts County has been extended for a further month - with Magpies manager Ian Richardson predicting the Addicks stopper has a bright future in the game.

Elliot has appeared as an unused substitute for the League Two side in every fixture since he joined County on a temporary basis at the end of January.

But the 18-year-old has seen some playing action for the reserves, and most recently played in a 3-1 defeat to Huddersfield Town's second XI on Wednesday afternoon.

"Rob has done very well in training and reserve matches since joining us and I have been very impressed with him," said Richardson.

"It looks like he's going to be a very good goalkeeper in the future."

Elliot was brought in to act as back-up to Saul Deeney following the return of former on-loan goalkeeper Wayne Henderson to Aston Villa.

"He's a big lad at six-foot-three, and also very agile," added Richardson. "He was brought in to push Saul and if he keeps doing what he is doing he will get a chance at some stage in the future."

The latest extension of Elliot's loan will take him to March 30th, and should it be further extended for a third and final month, he will remain at Meadow Lane until County's penultimate match of the season.

Elliot is expected to be on the bench when County entertain Swansea City on Saturday.
