    Seasiders capture Leeds teenager

    Seasiders capture Leeds teenager

Blackpool have signed versatile teenager Ian Morris on a month's loan from Leeds United.
The 18-year-old Republic of Ireland youth international can operate at left-back or on the left of midfield.

He will go straight into the squad for Saturday's home game against Milton Keynes Dons at Bloomfield Road.

Morris has not yet appeared for Leeds' first team, but will hope to impress Seasiders boss Colin Hendry during his month with the League One side.

According to Sky Sports he looked nervous. Hopefully he'll do better with his next chance. Kevin Nolan got a cracker of a goal. Surely Kerr should try one last time to call him up? I know a lot of people on here wouldn't like it but he's still young and with Roy, Kavanagh and Holland all over 30 he is at least as good as what we have and definitely better than what we will have in the near future. If he declines the offer this time well then he can phuck off

    leicester v q.p.r. 1-2

McCarthy played the 90.qpr's opener came from a free header from a set piece when the player who scored got across the front of McCarthy, but he wasnt Paddy's man,i know this cos Paddy had hold of another qpr players shirt so tight he couldnt move or get off the ground.about 10 mins after that leicester were on the attack and McCarthy and Maybury and one qpr attacker were the only players in the leicester half when a long punt came towards them.McCarthy took a nice first touch as the qpr player attempted to give chace, but then McCarthy underhit the pass to Maybury so badly,it actually made the qpr player favourite for it,he went in hard,Maybury reacted with a high raking challenge which caused a 22 man brawl.

Maybury got a straight red for the challenge, and McCarthy got a yellow for his part in the handbags.Maybury will be banned immediately and as it was McCarthy's fifth booking of the season he will miss the game v derby on sat.
the manager has said the challenge was ''stupid and reckless'' and cost leicester the match.

McCarthy was also at the centre of the qpr winner when a flick on came toward him and even though he won the header under pressure from a taller player.he put it straight to a qpr player whose scuffed shot somehow ended up in the topcorner.there were plenty of leicester midfielders around who should not have allowed the guy time and space to shoot but if McCarthy had managed to direct the header anywhere else,it wouldnt have happened.

on the upside,i think he did well to finish the game on the field on sat as he was booked early and it was a rough game throughout with 2 red and 6 yellow cards, and qpr focused on him a lot off the ball and gave him plenty of provocation.

neither Sheehan or Logan made the 16

Stephen Ireland set up the second goal for Man City's reserves in their 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers' second string, including U-19 cap Keith Treacy (I can't see anywhere if he's played for the U-21s)

Ireland was substituted with about a half hour to go and should be in the Man City team to play Everton at the City of Manchester Stadium this weekend
    Man City review here

Incidentally there's a page on the wikipedia with a list of Irish players here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Categor...nd_footballers - what would the contributors to this thread think of adding the same post to the relevant players on that page?

Plenty of Irish in action the the Championship last night.

James O'Connor & Chris McCann (U19 intl I think) both scored for Burnley. Garvan played for Ipswich.

Clinton got his 4th goal in 5 games for Palace.

Alan Quinn scored. Kenny played well too. Geary made the bench again.

Gary Doc got a goal too. Delaney played for Hull. No sign of Andrews or Burgess.

Glenn Whelan was credited with an OG, but Partridge made a sub appearance again. Coughlan only made the bench (harsh?)

Mark Kennedy got an assist for Wolves.

No sign of Foley for a while now though Luton are going great guns.

Alan Lee came on as sub for Cardiff.

McCarthy played for Leicester in their 0-0 draw with Brighton, who fielded Wayne Henderson (who's keeping Blayney who has Premiershipo experience out of the team) & McShane. Logan was on the bench. Crafty will disagree but 0-0 is best outcome given all our players were defenders!

There were probably some others aswell - didn't have time to check!

Karl Bermingham also came on as an 89th minute sub. Probably didn't break a sweat before full time.

    leicester v brighton 0-0

Logan made the bench for the first time in a league game and with Rab Douglas having done his ankle ligaments and is looking at a few weeks out Logan will hopefully be the backup keeper for the first time in his career in the coming games.

McCarthy had his best game so far for leicester, solid throughout in the air and strong in the tackle and used it well.avoided getting a booking.made some lovely tackles. he put it all together for the first time lastnight and showed the player he might become in time.he needed to as theres a sweedish u21 international centrehalf who joined in the summer but got injured straight away, now fit again and doing well in the reserves. he was only beaten in the air twice all evening and only gave away one free kick, and i thought the ref got that one wrong.he was more vocal last night than recently as well, organising those around him at set pieces.

For brighton Henderson was solid and didnt drop anything and also got accross to some decent longrange shots well, but it was McShane who really impressed, his reading of it was spot on and the positions he constantly took up made it as difficult as possible for the leiscetser midfielders to pick out their runners along the ground.he was solid in the air and as leicester pushed in the last 15 he seemed to clear everything.

he got forward too and looked comfortable in possession and from one set piece, leicester half-cleared it and brighton rebuilt the move over several passes but he stayed forward, drifting around the box causing problems as the leicester defence tried to reorganise,he eventually popped up at the near post for the cross and headed narrowly wide.a fine game from him.

Sheehan didnt make the 16 but will play tonight with Logan in the reserves v west ham.

Can anyone remember if 3 Irish players have ever scored for the same team in a game in England? Was this a first?

Nice goal too, finished from the far side of the area and a really tight angle to boot.

leicester reserves v west ham reserves 2-2

Logan and Sheehan both played the full game.Logan is credited with 2 fine saves at crucial times and Sheehan hit a spectacular equalising free kick late on for leicester.Sheehan also had the ball in the net previously but the ref controversially dissallowed it,Sheehan also captained the side last night.

Clive Clark played for west ham and was booked

His first start in the premiership, only got it because Reyna has a slight neck injury, but is expected to be back for the next game, with Ireland probbly returning to the bench.
Played well by all accounts, the reporter on Sky Sports said he was robbed for a goal, and played in an amount of quality crosses.

Haven't seen it posted here yet, Alan O'Brien has gone on loan from Newcastle to Carlisle. He was on the bench against Blackburn but has yet to play for the senior side.

He started his first game yesterday and marked the occasion with Carlisle's only goal in a 3-1 defeat to Bristol Rovers, 2 of Bristol's goals were og's by Carlisle players!!
