I suppose clubs have to live within their means.i hope it works out for the club.
Sounds like everything else will continue but he isn't going to bankroll the first team to the same extent any more. Fair enough really.

Ya it's fair enough and he has been saying it for ages.
Just shows though that even with everything put in place there is still no guarantee in the LOI that the fans will actually come out and support it and that the businesses will get behind a club.
Hopefully onwards from here and some more sponsorships etc... will come on board.
It goes against everything that is correct and right but the only thing that gets people out to watch LOI football is a winning team. Turners Cross is a fabulous little LOI stadium but it was pretty good in the first division and Cork's crowds were a third of what they were last year. Tallaght was pcked when Rovers won 2 in a row and less than a thousand at some games last year. Oriel might be the worst ground in the country but sold out last year.
Long term, of course, having good facilities will help but winning leagues and cups is still the only thing that matters. Which is why so many chairmen gamble on that

Ya exactly. Money was wasted on the playing front which could have had us challenging but at least the underage structures are there. We need Russell to work some serious magic to keep us up though.
The best example of waste at Limerick was last year.
In Pre Season Cork City and Limerick both went on two training camp/team bonding trips.
Cork City spent a weekend in Galway and a weekend in Kerry.
Limerick went to Spain and Scotland.
Then their manager called Cork City out for spending money.
At least they don't have a load of players on existing contracts for big money. Even if they have to reduce their playing budget to a large degree they should hopefully still be able to survive as a club.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.
Why do people keep saying this? Did people actually think that fans and businesses would flock to games because we have a good under 7s team or something. People care about the first team and first team only. The only way you get fans and businesses out to support a club is with a strong first team. And whether he likes it or not all his other projects will go bye bye if the first team was to go.
And as for people thinking the underage thing will help us, the closest I have seen to a player good enough for first team football is with the under 12s.

Apparently it was in 2013 ye went to Scotland. I've been unfairly denigrating Taylor for wasting money on two first team trips in one season when apparently he didn't have any first team trips last year.
We both know that it's only success that will bring fans but over the years teams have spent money to be successful and bring in fans and usually when it goes tits up the first thing that is said is that money was thrown at the first team and no structures or underage put in place. Pat has tried to do it the other way as well and that, as it stands, hasn't worked either
The problem with underage structures is it can be years before you reap the rewards. Years that most LOI clubs don't really have.

Well, I suppose he did try the dual approach early on but ultimately Taylor didn't deliver value for that budget, or it didn't deliver crowds to justify sustaining it either.
