Well I know galway united and Wexford are 2 clubs doing kids under 12 die free this season so itl be interesting to see if that has any effect on their attendances but a fiver at the gate isn't too bad to be fair as while the GAA like to talk about being free for under 16's you have to remember that's only for meaningless league games, come the championship they are happy to fleece kids for anything from 20 euro up so a fiver isn't bad considering the teams wel be hosting this year but no way should season tickets for kids have gone up.

Is the deal buy two kids season tickets get one free?If that was the case, that works out €2.50 per child per game taking into account we have more home games this year. I would have thought the kids ticket at least represents some value out of them all. Didn't know Galway were doing that deal but other than them there's only Bray, Bohs and Cork doing kids tickets cheaper and they all have the child cut off point at under 12 whereas we have it up to under 16? (I could be wrong on the under 16 part)

Everyone wants to encourage kids to go but every time the club has done free admission for kids they've taken a big hit on the gate that night. It isn't viable to do it for the whole season in my opinion.

A fiver for kids to see a game really isn't that expensive. It might be a handful off but most see it as decent value

As for our season tickets, the first reaction every time is to blame the club. The club is a business at the end of the day and whether we like it or not has to be run as same. We'd all love for cheaper tickets to games, however the club simply wouldn't survive for very long. Clubs like Galway can afford to offer incentives for fans and kids tickets as they have a much bigger population base than we do. Our season ticket for a child costs roughly the same as a new Xbox /
playstation game.
As Bosco has outlined before if our attendances were to improve i'm sure the club would look at incentives for season tickets etc. as things stand it's not viable unfortunately.

I'm only going by my experiences of attending championship games in croke part and they were always 20-25 euro and then there would be the situation where kids tickets would sell out and you'd have to buy an adult ticket and get the refund at the gate which was only possible in the cusack stand, not everyone is involved with their local GAA clubs so its not always possible to get the club tickets, maybe the pricing has changed since I stopped going to games but I don't think it has, any way I've gone off topic here,

I agree with Cabs and Bosco that while we'd like tickets to cheaper it's too big a hit for the club to take at this moment in time when we need as much funding as possible to cement our place back and establish ourselves in the premier. Forgot to take into account we more games with the increase in kids tickets so again just like the adult tickets its not bad value but we'd always like to see them cheaper.

Kids for free doesn't always mean you lose money, loads more kids would go and if their anything like mine all they want is food and drinks from the shop.
The FAI sometime give tickets to schools when they haven't sold as many tickets as they would like, I spoke to a guy in the shop in Landsdown Road and according to him you make more money when the kids get in free, obviously not for big games but there will be plenty of mediocre games, it is always a better atmosphere when there are loads of kids and they almost all spend more when they get in free,
I would be interested in what the overall take was on free kids games as opposed to a small crowd say 150 or 200

What id like to see done is get a couple of players and maybe some of the under 19 coaches to go into the schools with little cards and hand them out to kids inviting them to CCS for a league game (pick one game and test it) and maybe even do a little mini coaching session.

I mightn't be a GAA fan as pointed out but I remember when Longford senior team got promoted to division 1 in 2003 for the first time and they went round to every school in the county (not just the town) and gave out these little cards with the fixtures on the anck and inviting you to attend free of charge, even though it was free for u-16's anyway but it was a fantastic way to promote the matches and I know it was what got me out to my first GAA match and that meant bringing family with me to the games so straight away the GAA had made money.

I know its been suggested on here before that the problem with free kids at town matches is that the parents want to drop them off and use it as a baby sitting service but even if we only bring in a couple of extra adults and kids on that one night we could develop new life long fans and it would return 10 fold. Then again there is always the danger we won't make back the amount we waver in not charging a fiver on the night but as DLB points out above most kids will spend money in the shop so it wouldn't be a massive loss if it was a loss.

I also think we are not doing enough to promote the club outside of the town itself, when we were in the prmeier there were dozens of town fans in areas like drumlish so now that we are back we should be doing what we can to get those fans back, again sending players or coaches out to the local clubs or giving them tickets for Certain games would be the way to do this.

Is this something that could be suggested to the club?

No point resting on our laurels and being happy to be in the Premier, we should be using it as an opportunity to get people from around the county on board. Didn't there used to be supporters clubs outside of the town? I remember at least one anyway and not the Dublin Supporters club before anyone says that.

Players or coaches visiting schools is something which is constantly brought up and it is something the club should be trying to do, the only obstacle facing a club like us is that none of the players live locally, so doing so would probably mean asking the players to take a day off work which is unfair on them really considering i'd imagine trying to mix work with training and matches every week is already difficult for them.

On the kids in free, again it's something that is always suggested but again it's easy for us to suggest these things on a forum like this. It has been done a number of times before and from what I can gather has never been any kind of success. They usually do it at least once a season so whether is would be more of a success this season now that we're in the premier remains to be seen.

The 3 kids for the price of 2 deal on the gate is a good deal and insures that their is an adult accompanying them, it's something that should really be advertised more by the club.

I wasn't aware of the 3rd kid free deal on the gate and I'm usually up to date on most things, just proves our point.

yep over ten years ago there was a north longford supporters club and for Ballymahon as well! we even had a New York supporters club briefly also!

€220 for a season ticket. Am I right in saying we have 16 home games? So basically, you get 1 full game and 1/3 of a second game free! I won't be re-new ing my season ticket as I don't make all the games so would be losing out. It's a bit ridiculous when we have the second dearest season ticket in the premier league and us only after been promoted!! Dundalk been the dearest I think. I stand to be corrected on that though, but that's what I read earlier in the year. Bray's are €120 for an adult.

Also something else I want to point out and some people may laugh at this notion but I've had around 6 to 8 people say to me that if they could pay an extra 50 euro on top of their season ticket to have the same seat every week theyd happily do so.

I know Dundalk and rovers offer this package and while we might only sell 6 or 8 of these tickets that's a hell of a lot of money for a service that Costs absolutely nothing.

From the outside looking in the club seem to be thinkin if a lot of people aren't interested what's the point but isn't extra money extra money at the end of the day that's the way the club need to be thinking so I think they should really look into this.

Very few seemed to complain about the prices when it was 13 games for the price of 14 the last two years. They are expensive but there's logic behind the prices. If you include the discount they were the same as all the other clubs a part from 2, taking into account that most of the other clubs will sell at least 3 or 4 times what we would no matter what price and giving them a big boost in capital over us from the start. I don't think we should be using bray as a template for anything to be fair.
