The game was muck. Very little of interest, apart from the fact that Dundalk were wojus and still won. If that Rovers side is the best that the "project" (TM) can produce (Aaron Bolger aside), its time to go back to the drawing board. On a separate note, Brandon Miele is almost unrecognisable from the player of previous seasons.
It was a poor game alright but Dundalk's bit of experience told. A few of our young players don't look up to it but, then again, you don't expect entire teams to make it.
Aidan Price the under 19's manager took the Rovers team for the evening ,the only two overage players from Rovers were Gilcrest who hasn't played in months and Mielle who is coming back from injury and got 60 minutes or so, not a lot of respect for the LSC it seems.
Lovely evening for a match and reduced prices and kids in free brought a semi decent crowd, made me feel a bit nostalgic for the LSC.
Given the distain the trophy is treated with by all senior sides is it time to maybe leave the senior teams out and have a match pre season , in Jan maybe where the previous years FAI cup winners play the winner of the Junior Cup in a sort of charity shield event for the LSC?
Anything has to be an improvement , the current scenario makes the EA sports cup look like the Champions league
