Performance was praised by Merson on Soccer Saturday
OK so he didn't score a hat-trick, but he did play 45 minutes today and, as tets noted, got some praise from Paul Merson. So he does seem to be progressing pretty quickly. (In fact you could probably see a parallel between where Grego-Cox is now and where Jack Grealish was about eight months ago). And Les Ferdinand seems to hint that QPR are going to move away from a policy of buying expensive players to developing and promoting young talent internally at http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/32769012 :
"Realistically we can't afford to go out and pay £20m, £30m, £15m on players. We have to start regrouping and producing a crop of players who can play for this club."
So with Grego-Cox likely to be an early beneficiary of this policy, I definitely think we should watch him very closely next season.

Was wondering how Shodipo qualified, according to Rob Brennan on twitter, he was born in the Mater: https://twitter.com/RobBrennan82/sta...18432110354432
Just found out the Ben Pattie is eligible as well. Dear oh dear , its hard to keep track of them all

He's a Plastic Pattie.

In relation to the list above, Chris Ramsey has been given the QPR job full time despite relegation and Les Ferdinand in the same piece saying it is time the club focused on developing its youth players. There should be chances there for some of our lads so.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32797812
I think this is very good news as Ramsey and Ferdinand seem committed to building a squad from within and with so many big players likely to leave over the summer, it ought to give a few of our youngsters the chance to break into the first team. Indeed, if three or four Irish youth players establish themselves next season in the Championship as a result of this change of focus away from expensive signings, QPR's relegation this year could turn out to be one of the most positive events for the Irish National team in recent years and could add significant depth to our squad in time for the next qualifying campaign.
I like your positivity, you must be the anti-towk.
Antitowkwise if you will.
Ah, TOWK's alright, he just gets a little worked up at times, and sometimes a couple of people here seem to wind him up, which has led to tets having to intervene - I didn't even get to give my views on the recent developments on what is being laughably referred to in the media and by some commenters as "The Jack Grealish Saga". But TOWK does want Ireland to succeed, as I'm sure everybody here does.
As regards being positive, I do think there is plenty of reason to be optimistic about the near and medium term future of the national team - we already have a reasonably decent team which has been added to over the past year with the recruitment of McGoldrick and Christie and the ascent of Harry Arter. And there have been numerous young players who have started to put themselves in a position where they could be considered for the senior team within the next year or so - Grealish being the obvious one but also think of Hoban and Murray at Watford; Duffy and Darragh Lenihan at Blackburn; Sean Scannell experiencing a renaissance at Huddersfield; Williams, Carruthers and maybe Browne coming up from League One; Sean Kavanagh establishing himself at relegated Fulham; and now Grego-Cox breaking through at QPR, with the possibility that others might join him. Plus there are a number of youth players who will hopefully make the step-up to the senior teams at their respective clubs quite soon - Jack Byrne, Alex O'Hanlon, Noe Baba, etc. - and others not far behind, like Masterson and Kinsella. So there's a reasonable chance that we could be quite competitive within a few years.
I'm sure he does, although it's debatable whether he actually wants all of our players to succeed. I was jokingly referring to his, overly dramatic, reactions to teams with a few fringe Irish players not gaining promotion. I don't think people like winding him up either, but feel compelled to pull him on his inaccuracies or loose 'facts' and general, unfounded, self-congratulatory ways. It is to the detriment of the forum though and he's clearly not going to change his ways, so maybe some of us should. Easier said than done at times. Anyway, I shouldn't bring him up for no reason, so my bad.
I agree with your positivity with regards Ireland's potential. A lot of our capped players look to be on a bit of an upward curve also.
-Westwood's career has steadied and is going from strength to strength
-Given first choice at Villa
-Clark had reestablished himself as first choice for Villa also, before his injury, and days like last Saturday should ensure he's reinstated when he returns
-O'Shea fresh from a motm performance at The Emirates and PL survival
-Our three W's still doing their thing at Stoke
-Coleman & McCarthy becoming an integral part of Everton's team
-Long getting more game time at Southampton and taking his chance
-Hoolahan heading for Wembley and hopefully a PL return
-Murphy the Championship top scorer
-And what about this Grego-Cox guy (lame attempt to keep thread on topic!)
...to name a few.

Starting against Leicester. Well done to him.

Tough game to make your first Premier League start in. But still, breaking into the first team at the age of 18 is an excellent achievement and a good sign of things to come from Grego-Cox. More and more it's looking like he could be the one to watch next season, from an Irish point of view.
LOL! I know we like to use that joke at every opportunity but I do hope MON is monitoring his progress closely and working out potential scenarios for putting him in the squad, should he have a breakout season in 2015/16 - if we qualify for Euro 2016, should he play in pre-tournament friendlies? If we don't, do we give him a runout in any summer games the FAI lines up next year, with a view to preparing him for a role in World Cup qualifying? And while I know that we'll likely never fill the Robbie-shaped hole up front that's surely going to open up soon, and that we do still have some decent striking options, it would be great if we had a forward who could be expected to score 25-30 international goals over his career. Now with Kane firmly established for England and no real sign of Bamford switching allegiance, Grego-Cox looks like the most likely to fill that role.
Nice Article on him here: http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/footbal...ain--interview
Mentions Paul Doolin in there too

DeLorean, I don't need to change anything. I am not doing anything wrong. It is not my fault that people can't behave themselves when I post something that they don't agree with.
Good luck to Grego-Cox. Poor enough at the weekend by all accounts though.
