    Italian football

Anyone see Juve v Torino tonight?

Cracking stuff. Electric atmosphere. Unreal solo goal from Torino full back who ran 60 yards at pace before letting rip from 18 yards.

Pirlo's late winner was special. How does he keep doing it?

He's just so nonchalant that's how I would say he keeps doing it.

Yet another sublime jibe at my expense. Wonderful.

Giovinco to Torino. Highest paid Italian player in the world.

What an absolute waste. Surprising lack of talent up and coming in Italian football these days. The fact that Giovinco is one of the most talented, and already 28, speaks volumes.

Candreva was one of their best performers at the WC and even he isn't held in the greatest renown.

Also the boy is heading to Toronto; which is way worse!

Parma gone insolvent. Really sad. Got to know some of the people from the club when they were in training camp some years back. 2nd time they've gone under in 10 years, no, 11.

The wiki page has that update (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parma_F.C.) but I can only find info online about the game being postponed against Udinese.

Not gone just yet, but look likely to go before the end of the season. What follows is from football-italia.net:

Parma have not been liquidated, but the facts we do know show the Serie A club is in an extraordinary situation.

This evening the Lega Serie A released a statement defending its investigation into the club finances and confirming it would be by Parma’s side in the bankruptcy hearing on March 19.

Some news sources mistranslated this and believed it was an official sign of liquidation for the club, but that is not true.

There are also unconfirmed reports that President Giampietro Manenti emptied his company's bank account on Thursday.

What we do know about Parma are some facts that show just how serious the situation has become.

Last week several vehicles, including a team bus, were seized by the Italian version of the Inland Revenue due to unpaid taxes.

Nobody at the club – including players and behind the scenes staff – has been paid since July 2014.

Tomorrow’s game against Udinese has been called off because the club doesn’t have the money to pay stewards or security staff at the Stadio Tardini.

Youth team Coach Hernan Crespo revealed today that their Primavera game was only able to go ahead thanks to a “favour” from ground staff.

He also said there is no money to pay cleaning staff or electricity bills, so the teenage players are getting sick from taking cold showers.

Director of sport Pietro Leonardi has been hospitalised for heart problems caused by stress and today moved to a clinic specialising in depression and anxiety.

If Parma do go under before the end of the season, the results earned so far will stand.

Any future fixtures that don’t go ahead will see opponents automatically awarded a 3-0 victory.

I was in the Curva Nord for Lazio's 1-2 loss at home to Inter Milan.

Candreva put Lazio in front but a brace by Lazio old boy Hernanes won it for Inter.

Unfortunately, Hernanes' goals were accompanied by monkey chants from everyone around me.

Impressed with the ref's steely composure here, his fearlessness makes the your man look even more ridiculous.
