Should the club be involved in politics?

    http://www.limerickpost.ie/2014/09/2...ect-provision/

Utterly bizarre one in the Limerick Post.

Pat O'Sullivan pledges the full support of Limerick FC for Doras Luimni.

Regardless of what you think on the issue is this not an incredibly stupid road to be going down.

Pat O'Sullivan, the wealthy eccentric who happens to be Limerick FC chairman, can as a private individual support the zombie Nazi party for all I care, but dragging the club into nonsense??

What's next?? Limerick FC announces position on water charges. Limerick FC commits troops to fight ISIS. Limerick FC to field fifty candidates in general election.

What I'd like to see the club involved in is the Markets Field development and maybe signing a few players. Doras Luimni?? Not so much...

Only bizarre thing about this is the thought that supporters of any club other than Lazio, Zenit St. Petersburg or possibly Shamrock Rovers would have a problem with it.

Think you might be overreacting just a tad? As long as they don't make a big deal about it at matches (thus risking the breaking of actual rules) who is really going to care that much?

And who knows, maybe POS is also courting immigrant supporters for the club?

Maybe overreaction, its just a bit of a bug bear of mine when chairmen use clubs as kind of personal playthings.

But then I suppose he who pays the piper calls the tune.

As for courting immigrant support, the clubs needs to be doing a lot more to court the support of everyone living in Limerick be they immigrant, emigrant or otherwise!

No problem with anyone of any colour race or whatever coming to our games but having my clubs name in the sentence as a religious feminist quango on the leash of the ici and mci just makes my interest in my club less

I think if he has an opinion on it he should state it as his opinion and keep the club out of it tbf.

i did enjoy this bit though " We fully believe that Direct Provision in its current form runs against our club ethos of inclusion and acceptance for all, " inclusion and acceptance for all a stance the club seems to take with everyone except their own fans.
