    Richie Partridge

I heard Richie Partdridge played for the Pool last night. Slow burner or in the last chance saloon? He's still meant to be some talent but how he can't get into a ropey Liverpool team is beyond me.

He's more of a mascot than a player at this stage. He must be 25 now.

24 I think. He's like a school kid who's been kept back so many times he's shaving and still in primary school (sorry, analogies have never been my strong point ). Have always been a fan but dear god 21 minutes in a Carling Cup game is not worth throwing 2 very important years of your career away. Richie's Liverpool dream died a long time ago. Move on son.

Played superb when he came on and set up the first goal with a lovely through ball. He turned 24 recently and since Owen left he's the longest serving player at Liverpool AFAIK.

I wouldn't say that. He went to Coventry on loan for a season, when he returned he broke his leg and Houllier probably would have gave him his chance otherwise. He has only recently recovered from his broken leg (he was out of the last Carling cup squad with a minor injury). Benitez watches most reserve games and Partridge always plays well in them. I've no doubt he'll get his chance under Benitez.

I'm sure you do this too EB but I read Liverpool reserve match reports all the time and Partridge was back a long enough time (Best part of a season AFAIK) and winning many man of the match awards before he got injured. At a time when Pool had no width whatsoever!!! I would doubt Houllier was ever going to give him his chance. Also this is the first sniff he's had this season. He's 24 and played about 4 first team games AFAIK. Maybe started 1.

Maybe you're right but Benitez does rate him. He probably would have started the 1st Carling cup game if he hadn't twisted his knee last month.

Maybe Benitez will give him a shot. It's early doors i suppose. Liverpool still aren't particularly blessed in that area. As i said I'm just a fan of his and i want to see Richie playing first team football somewhere before his career passes him by.

A friend of mine played against him when he was still playing juvenile Dublin football, he said Partridge was the fastest player he ever played against, a skillful chap too. Not much to go on but I hate reading about Irish players who are just sitting on the bench, especially when he seems to have talent. Hopefully this will be his season. 24 isn't much - he's younger than Richard Dunne and probably the same age as Duff. You have to credit his perseverance. We could do with a quick right-winger playing top level football.

I'm leaning towards Bowsy here, at 24 playing in liverpool reserves, i feel he needs to look at other options, as he's been there long enough. if he has goals to represent Ireland in the future, he needs first team football, considering there are younger lads playing in weaker leagues getting senior call ups. From reading reports and whats been posted here i've no doubt he still has the talent and prospects, but sitting on the bench will do him no good.

He should get one last chance with Liverpool
Great he got a game but he needs more than just the odd carling cup game
i think liverpool shoudl treat the FA cup teh same as the league cup
Liverpool are in dire straights on the wings ...so maybe he could do a job

Richie signed a one year contract this summer so can talk to teams after Christmas. Benitez doesn't seem like the type of manager that will let talent go to waste so I'll put my kneck out and say I'm certain he'll get a chance to impress.

yeah id say he will get his chance alright its up to him then after that, he is plenty good enough if he stays injury free and gets a run of games to get used to the pace and get his confidence going

Again i really want to believe you're right EB but is january is but a month and a half away. Enough but not a lot of time to make an impact/inroads into the first team starting basically from scratch. If it happens great, if it doesn't i hope he has the good sense to sign for an o.k. premiership side/Championship Leaders and start playing some football.

Martin O'Neill should take him on loan.

(spoken from an Irish fan's perspective primarily, but it could make sense).

Well Agathe is the first choice on the right wing at the moment, even with the injuries, he played right full last night as far as I can tell, so Richie would be worth a go, he'd do well in the SPL (not saying much I know) but would him being there keep McGeady out of the team?

Agathe hasn't played on the right wing all season. He's a RB now and one of the best in Britain may I add. While I wasn't a fan of his at RM he has really transformed since changing position.

Benitez seems to be giving a lot of players their chance to impress for liverpool so Partridge might get a run.Players like Biscan,Finnan and even Riise who couldn't get near the team last year under houll are getting a shot so who knows.
    Chamon Mothafcuka......he heeee.

Liverpool were decent enough to give him a years contract after his injury. They obviously think he has a bit of talent (which he has) and is worth a few bob. He did well at Coventry and I don't think Houllier liked wingers. I still think that he's a chance.

By the way. Is he still going out with Michael Owens sister.

I think they married, if not they're definitely engaged.
