Cobh Ramblers Dave Warren has been named as the Eircom/Soccer Writers' Association of Ireland Player of the Month for October.
Warren was in free-scoring form during the month, netting nine goals in four matches, including six goals in an 8-1 victory over Monaghan United.
A new First Division record, Warren is only the third player to score six goals in one League match in the last 50 years.

He was playing in Midfield.
This was his first Month as a striker and what a month it was 9 goals in 3 games.
It is also a great credit to his partner up front Robert Brosnan who was instrumental ina lot of the goal.
Roll on Next season.
Fair dues to Davey boy.He wasn't really given a chance by City but he was there at a time when Billy woods was outstanding on the left wing and up front Flynny and Georgie were destroying every defence in the country.
I can't believe two other players got 6 goals in a league game in the last 50 years, now thats a trivia question, anyone know who they were?
Chamon Mothafcuka......he heeee.
Trivia
Jonny Speak got 6 for Derry in a 7-2 win over Sligo at the end of the 1987/88 season. Not sure about the other one. There was a Jimmy Turnbull played for one of the Cork teams and scored 37 League goals during one of the 1930's seasons. It might have been him.
p.s. Well Done Dave

Thanks for the compliment. Jimmy Turnbull's 37 goals for Cork in a League Season remains the record in a season and is unlikely ever to be equalled... especially as Brendan Bradley retired in 1986
Congratulations to David Warran, thoroughly deserved. One of Ramblers best and most consistant performers this season
Eddie O'Halloran
Are you THE Eddie O'halloran ?
Brilliant ... fair play Davie Bouy !! .... ex-city player that fella like !!
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
Yes he is, the one and only!Originally Posted by CollegeTillIDie
Well Done Dave Warren you deserve it.
congrats to Dave Warren.
Good to see a First Division player getting the award after a great achievment.
I'm what? I'm ants at a picnic?
Still cant understand why there isnt an award for both the premier and 1st divisions ? there should also be one for managers.Originally Posted by paudie

While it's nice to see a 1st division player get recognised, and Warren's achievement is remarkable, from a pruely selfish viewpoint I'm disappointed that a City player (especially Kevin Doyle) wasn't singled out after they won six and drew one over the month of October.
Cork City: Making 'Dream Team' seem realistic since 2007.
Be surprised if any journalist even saw Warren play during October.
Can't see how Kevin Doyle didn't get it as he scored 5 goals that month in cluding some crucial ones in away games.
