i'm always slightly disappointed that mickey evans got a cap. did he come on for his debut, then get taken off again, and was never seen again in a green jersey till he signed for plymouth?
Quinn and Doyle also travelled and didn't touch a ball.Originally Posted by NY Hoop

Nah, Goodman got more than that - do you not remember his solo run through the Macedonian defence to set up David Kelly's goal in 1997?Originally Posted by Plastic Paddy

He got at least four caps... Played in Romania as well (1-0 defeat)
It wasn't down to the quality of Goodman's contribution in a green shirt, honest...Much of the nineties was a blur for me, I'm afraid. But I shan't go into that here.

I don't remember too much of the McCarthy early years, to be honest. I remember Goodman getting a start against Wales or Poland, someone like that. I don't remember Mickey Evans, that seems like a bit of a shambles. Who's this Trundle character? I've only been on this website for the past three months, previously relied on the dailies for soccer info, I realise that you can't get any on-the-ground information anywhere else than here. Weird.![]()
Trundle plays for Swansea. Seems a bit of a ****
Ya he seems to a **** alright.Originally Posted by SAINTS4EVER

JonGoodman made his debut in February 1997 away to Wales. He then played the next game against Macedonia and as was pointed out, he set up David Kelly's goal. I dont think he played against Romania in the following game but I might be wrong. David Connolly played on his own up front that night. I think its fair to say that Jon Goodman was past his best when he played for Ireland.

Mickey Evans came on as a sub with about 10 minutes to go against Romania in October 1997. He had set the Premiership alight with a number of super-sub appearances for Southampton the previous season. He never played for Ireland again and never really made the grade at club level.Originally Posted by b_mcsweeney

Garreth Whalley didnt play for the Ireland senior team. He played for the B team when he was riding high with Bradford. As for Alan Mahon, isnt he playing with Wigan at the moment who have been at the top end of the Championship table all season?Originally Posted by TerryPhelan
You might think that its funny that sometimes Ireland are forced to play sub-standard international players but that is the nature of a footballing nation like Ireland. We dont have a big pick. Sometimes, because of injuries or experimentation, we have to resort to playing weaker players. However, these lads that you have mentioned gave everything for Ireland when they were involved. If you want to poke fun at sub-standard international players, divert your attention to Norn Iron.

That's the game alright. Surprised me as well, but I googled him and found a Romanian website - he came on with 14 minutes to go, either for or along with Cascarino.Originally Posted by Junior
PM, Terry Phelan's only having a laugh, is all this really necessary? This isn't exactly the most serious of posts where we're debating the lack of depth etc.Originally Posted by TheJamaicanP.M.

Yeah PM, no offence, but next time you go to use the typing stick, have a good look to make sure you havent grasped the end marked WRONG again.
(this is a metaphor, I dont actually think you use a stick to type with. Just in case.)
Richie scores again. Number 8.
