2 of the fancied sides gone already in Carew and Balla.Great result for Summerville second string.Must have played well to beat Kilmallock. They're a decent side and will be in the hunt for promotion.Well done maroon and white.

Yeah it was a fantastic win for us out there..This time last year we lost to there B team out there so a massive improvement for us..They are a very good team to be honest and we got very limited chances but when we got um we took them..Game ended a bit bad for us with one of our players having to be taken away in an amubulance so kind of put a downer on it but fair play to the kilmallock lads they took it will and said we deserved it.The fact they had a few playerss away with the hurling helped but we ccan only play whats put in front of us.. Next round will be tough as well as we host newport who are in the same league and doing well as kilmallock but we will give it a lash..Would be great to get out of town to be honest as no junior team at summerville has ever got to the out of town stages and now both the A and B team both have a chance. If we do both get through i wonder what the odds are on us meeting each other ha ha ...

good enough game i thought and good report Alan, the most amazing thing for me is that one of the biggest clubs in the country went into this game with no goalkeeper, and while the lad in goal did quite well ,to see pike change their centrehalf into goal during the game leaves one scratching for logic.thought Doyle upfront for view had a big influence throughout and Judge, great result for them.

pike rovers not too strong this year or just not performing consistently. They have signed a few ex LOI players recently so appear to have the quality. Maybe just not cohesive as a team??

Very little attacking cohesion this season certainly. Haven't been running up scores against those sides that they would traditionally consider as cannon fodder.

More generally, they simply have a very thin squad. Only two recognised centre halves for example. Despite this gap, they chose not to add to their defensive cohort in the window, despite adding three attacking midfielders and one striker to address the problems at the other end. The word is that they did approach key defenders from other large Limerick clubs, but were unsuccessful.

The truth is that players are reluctant to go somewhere where they won't be getting game time. The keeper situation is a microcosm of this - obviously no-one would want to be second fiddle to a player of Neville's calibre. But it doesn't take much to give the stand-in a few games and keep him happy. Geraldines have suffered, squad-wise, for their refusal to do this last year too.

It means you end up with players being played out of position, and players being dissatisfied with this. This is allegedly why Tierney didn't play. And you could see that other players on the field weren't happy with what they were asked to do either.

Interesting seems that possibly alot of individuals in the team lack of collective spirit.Maybe a lack of leaders and character in the side

No maybe about it. But of course leadership must come primarily from the sideline too.
