IRELAND HIT BY INJURY

Nottingham Forest's Andy Reid,
Charlton's Matt Holland and Newcastle's
Stephen Carr have all been forced to
pull out of the Republic of Ireland's
squad for Tuesday's friendly with
Croatia at Lansdowne Road.

Brian Kerr has decided not to call up
any late replacements as he still has a
19-man squad to choose from.

Reid suffered an ankle injury in
Forest's 1-0 defeat by Burnley in the
Coca-Cola Championship game at Turf
Moor on Saturday.

Holland is also sidelined with an ankle
problem.

Newcastle defender Carr had to be
substituted early is his side's 3-1
defeat by Manchester United at St
James' Park because of a knee problem.

'You expect these type of problems to
arise before any international game,'
said Kerr.

'Fortunately it is not a competitive
match and we have plenty of cover
available from the players already in
Dublin.'

Manchester City striker Jon Macken
linked up with the rest of the Irish
squad today but will have a late
fitness test on a back injury.
