I suppose you would have to ask Crusher his opinion on the players. from what has been said here most of the players signed are quality additions and I suspect will have to fight for their place. Its with big squads that big trophies are won. Crusher is a good manager and I am sure he is a good man manager also
Planners, have you a gaa background seen that you like to associate teams and subsequent players with 'parishes'? I think the game has moved on a bit . I would have thought you might be more concerned with your club and its own identity or are you happy to be the 'New Newtown', with your new found facilities and some of your management? or are you too busy throwing stones and trying to disrupt other clubs (you might even be looking for their players from any potential fall out)
cant disagree with your "first" point 2feet , in relation to your second paragraph i have answered this in a previous post , for a 1 team club you have to progress with whats avaiable to you !

you mentioned about the addition of players not being from the parish, so I am just wondering how you view it from your club when you state ' for a 1 team club you have to progress with whats available to you ' are you slagging NOF for having good few players from outside the town/parish , but when its a club, that has only one team (like your club), that it is ok to get whatever is available to you (even if it means outside the parish).
not having a go, but just interested if you are having double standards
at the end of the day each manager is tasked with winning matches and its up to him to build a squad and get them playing a certain that gives results. good players want to play with better player and be challenged for their position and earn it when then get it. Talk of targeting national honours should occur each year they enter them and if you don't have the belief you can win it (yes I agree luck and decent draws play a part) then why bother enter in the first place?

Just to be clear i am not a rep for any club - -
Yes i believe that 1 team clubs have no choice but to go outside the parish to keep going / competing are you slagging NOF for having good few players from outside the town/parish
Yes

I agree with you here but as per my earlier point NOF were capable of winning multiple honours with a squad from the village , but in resent years have had to use player outside the parish to achieve these same honours - look at Bunratty , a team of mercaneries , nothing coming through and when the vein ran dry the club has practically collapsed , cant see this happening to NOF but hope that youth and underage development is tapped in order to keep NOF going !! !

Planners, Newmarket have always had players from outside the parish so I don't get your point.
I'll update this next year.

Rineanna always had a loyal base of players for as long as i can remember , consider Rineanna is one of the oldest clubs in the CDLS , sure there was the odd pretender that might have tried to move in but i have to say the majority were born bred and rared locally
Unfortunatly things did go wrong - when the greats came to the winter of their career we didnt have a back-up plan - trying to compare us to the Rats ?, no comparision - as mentioned we had a spine of 15 locals , the Rats had alot of players coming ang going , and mostly staying gone !
i cant speak for them but maybe a few members here might comment on that ?

ah so all clubs need to aspire to be like Rineanna.....that's what your point is....at least its clear now!
Not re opening the gaa vs soccer debate but why is avenue Newmarket on at 2.30 Sunday? The highlight of the gaa calendar is at 3.30(the all Ireland football final Kerry vs Donegal to all the soccer lads ).
And why are there linesmen for the game ??
I for one think it's a great idea, I'm sure there will be a considerable amount of interest in this game so having it on at 2.30 allows the football people of Clare to see it.
The fact the All Ireland Football is on an hour later is irrelevant.
As for linesman, I think all premier games should have three officials. Helps get the big calls correct. Costly for Newmarket as they'll have to pick up the bill for it
They should charge a nominal fee at the gate to recoup the referees fee.
