    Carrolls pledge support to Dublin

    Carrolls pledge support to Dublin

    November 5, 2004

Carrolls Irish Gift Stores, the chief sponsor of Dublin City, have insisted that they will continue their affiliation with the club – regardless of the outcome of the club’s season, which dipped towards relegation following a dismal 24 hours in the club’s history on Thursday.

The Vikings lost manager Roddy Collins to chief relegation rivals Shamrock Rovers, and then went down to a 3-2 defeat to Drogheda United on Thursday night, when they conceded two goals in the first four minutes.

The club will be relegated if Collins’s new Rovers side take a win against Bohemians tonight (Friday) – but the Vikings have been handed a boost of sorts with the news that Carrolls will continue their sponsorship of the club.

Lorcan O’Connor, the Managing Director of Carroll’s Irish Gift Stores, told RTE’s LiveLine: “All Carrolls Irish Gift Stores have is a handshake agreement with Ronan Seery as well, but it’s the best thing we’ve ever done.

“Ronan is one of the most honourable people anybody could hope to deal with, and the way he’s been treated by Roddy Collins is disgraceful.

“I love the club, I love going to the matches and we’ll definitely be continuing our sponsorship.”

blatant selp promotion, seriously, delighted to hear that Carrolls are staying on board, fair play to both partys, seem to have done wonders for the publicity of both the club and the shop.
