went to school with a friend of mine, he was over the moon when he got the one cap under Kerr
Hadn't realised that John Thompson had to retire because of injury. Nice tribute being paid to him by Notts County.

John had to retire because he was suffering from the mental and physical side affects of a very bad facial injury.

I remember that, it was shocking.
He shoved him face first into the dugout, having already caused two players to be taken off injured. Mansfield then walked off the pitch and abandoned the game.

I suppose what I meant was did he carelessly shove him in the vicinity of the dug-out whilst not really intending for him to fall face-first into it or did he intentionally shove him into the dug-out in order to cause maximum harm? Were the other two injuries intentional as well? What ever happened to this Ricketts guy? Was he sent off/banned?
I'd say he did just mean to shove him towards the dugout but as a result he was seriously injured. The guy was a lunatic by all accounts. I believe he was fined and banned for a couple of weeks by his club after.
While Brighton have agreed a fee with Cork City, it seems Hull are now showing interest in Lenihan. Could mean Cork get more money for him.

Rene Gilmartin has joined Watford's Irish contingent.
One of the most baffling transfers in recent memory. He obviously still knows some of the coaches and convinced them he was worth a second go.
Shane Redmond must be sitting by his phone wondering why Stuart Pearce hasn't called yet.
anyone else think it's weird that some people think that current England underage international Dan Crowley is definitely going to switch to Ireland, despite no concrete evidence, and are convinced current Irish underage international Jack Grealish is going to switch to England despite an equal lack of evidence?
Would agree. Crowley's former GAA coach possibly gave people hope, while Grealish's failure to immediately accept a cap is seen by others as possible treachery and not acceptable. Personally, I hope we can cap both along with the likes of Kane and Kyle Naughton. This is a reply to Tets' comment, I am not trying to drag the Grealish debate onto this thread!
