Man City's Tom Holland is on trial at Sunderland, and played for their u18's today against Liverpool: http://www.safc.com/news/reserves-an...n-by-liverpool
Hull have done ok recently with some of the Irish restored to the team. We only have clusters of Irish at half decent clubs these days but in the last couple weeks the Hull, Everton and Stoke Irish have done well enough, as have others at Derby and other Championship clubs. Even Clark has shown spurts of form in a shambolic Villa team.
I think we could approach the Poland game with some confidence if only we could shake off the "we're crap because we're not brilliant" syndrome, which MON seems to be a proponent of.

Hibernian can also confirm that Development squad striker Cody Mulhall has now parted company with the club.
Everybody associated with Hibernian would like to thank Cody for his contribution and wish him all the best as he embarks on the next chapter in his career.
masterson made his league debut in the game got good reviews by liverppool fans http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/...c=204689.80480
"Great header by Wade Maxwell for the goal, some decent play around the back and for me the best of the players in red was the debutant (wasn't sure but the announcer said it after my earlier comment) Conor Masterson. Looked very good for his first game at this level, a bit like vintage Danny Agger strolling around the back. Looking forward to seeing more of him in the future to see if he can keep it up." "Masterson reminds me a lot of Benedikt Howedes during his time in the schalke reserve team and german youth teams"

lenihan on bench for blackburn tonight. Missed the fact o sullivan had gone on loan to barnsley they have won the 4 games since he has been involved
Not a single goal scored by an Irish player after a full round of fixtures in all four divisions midweek. Has that happened before?
Daryl Murphy missed a penalty for Ipswich as their slide continues.
Brentford are proving surprisingly resilient though, in spite of their upheaval.
Quick trivia question to kick off the week - with Reece Grego Cox making his debut at the weekend, who was the last Irish player to make his debut in a premier league game?
Bonus question - who was the last Irish international to make his debut in a premier league game?
Hint: both players in question made their debuts for the same club
good guess, but no.
He made his debut in the league cup
To clarify, these players made their professional debuts in premier league games, not games involving then premier league clubs. Anthony Forde is another one, he made his debut for premier league club wolves, but in the league cup
Derrick Williams.
What do I win?
Matt Doherty made his PL debut against Liverpool and I think that was before Derrick Williams' debut.
Yep, Williams is the last player to make his debut in a Premier League game, in December 2012. Before I started looking I had thought it was going to be Anthony Forde, or Samir Carruthers. Forde made his debut in the League Cup, and Carruthers made his debut in April 2012
Doherty made his professional debut in a League Cup game, so he didn't count
If Derrick Williams is the answer to part one, does that mean that Ciaran Clark would be the answer to the bonus question? Wow, that would mean it's been five years since an Irish international came straight through a Premier League club's youth system to play for the first team, without going out on loan to a lower league team - and Clark was technically still an England international at the time. That said, we do have a number of promising young players coming through Championship and League One teams. And with the success of Coleman, Meyler, McClean, Doyle etc, it's clear that young players can get experience in the League of Ireland and still realistically aspire to the play at the top level of football. So maybe this wait doesn't necessarily indicate that we need to be overly worried about players going straight into Premier League teams. Still, it would be nice if we were sitting here twelve months from now talking about the likes of Jack Byrne, Alex O'Hanlon and/or Daniel Cleary making a breakthrough.
