Interesting meeting tonite (i think) regarding schoolboy soccer in ireland. Discussing summer soccer amongst other topics. Could influence the junior scene in the coming years
Great result for shannonside b, that should be a handy cup quarter final for our b team now as we should easily account for Shannonside b and that puts us only 2 steps from winning it. Has any other division 3 team ever won the desmond cup before?

Surprised we havnt fixtures for friday evening games yet. I taught the idea of starting the league early was to finish earlier. If Abbey dont start playing evening games soon the rest of the clubs will have to wait until all teams have 2 games left. That could be in JUNE as i expect Abbey to be in 2 cup finals
Askeaton 1-0 up on Breska at half time.
Cracker of a game in Newcastle West this morning between both Rovers and AFC. AFC went up 2-0 tony quaid scoring both. Then Rovers went up 3-2 thanks to mike o keeffe. Seoirse Joyce and I think it was darragh woods who got the third (not sure). Afc levelled with about 10mins through William Kavanagh. Great game to watch. Good point for AFC and bad point for rovers. That's rovers title ambitions gone now Id say.
Rathkeale were up 5-2 with a few mins to go I heard
Shannonside 0 - 0 Ballingarry. Good game, no idea how it finished up like that both teams had great chances right up to the last minute.
Rathkeale B 3-0 Rockhill. 4 points in their last two games will guarantee the title for them. Still have League Cup final and Desmond Cup quarter final to come too.
Kildimo very unlucky not 2 get the win today.if rathkeale slip up.kildimo will catch them
Desmond Cup Semi Final draw:
Broadford/Ncw Rovers V Abbeyfeale/Carrig Celtic
Kildimo/Rathkeale B V Glin B/Shannonside B
was at the Askeaton v Breska game, good hard game of football Askeaton could have been up 3-0 at H-T with Breska not really creating any real chances. Breska had a lot of the ball in the second half but was mostly huff and puff a couple of shots going well wide or over the crossbar, they did hit the crossbar late on with a header mind you which could have changed the outcome, but Askeaton were still dangerous on the break and could have added to their lead. Askeaton denied a stone wall penalty right at the end. if it was given the defender would surely have been sent off so maybe the ref judged it on that. Askeaton have now gone 13 games unbeaten in the league winning 11 and drawing 2 since they lost to Breska in late August surely championship winning form and well deserved barring a complete disaster in their last two games,
Congratulations to Seoirse Joyce from Newcastle West Rovers won has won the premier division player of the year
Hey guys.a good few big cup games this wknd involving premier teams, I would fancy Broadford to get past rovers but will be very tight an I think carrig will get past abbey in other quarters, abbey will surly come unstuck an I think it could be in carrig. Looks like ncw got a massive point last wk to help the survive the drop. Could not believe ballingarry got caught out in cup but when I seen them against Tralee they were very limited...
Rovers 3 - 1 Broadford
Heard Carrig and Abbey gone to extra time
Any result from Abbey vs Carrig???
Only heard rovers beat broadford 3-1 and Newcastle beat Ballingarry 5-0
Heard abbey win on pens
Abbey won 6-5 on penalties. Game finished 1-1 aet
Glin 'B' 2 - 1 Shannonside 'B'. (AET) Glin won it in the last minute of extra time with a great header. Sickening.
I was at the Newcastle West Rovers v Broadford match Sunday, not a bad game... Rovers deserved to win... just... there was little between the sides in my opinion.
Should be a good semi final between Rovers & Abbeyfeale, Great achievement by Glin B in reaching the semi final & Rathkeale B... has there ever been a 'B' Team in a Desmond Cup final before??
Athea still have a chance of staying up after their result at the weekend... it's getting tight at the bottom!!
Great to see Askeaton winning Division 2 and getting promoted, some great people at the club & looks like they've turned things around.
Any results from tonight's games?
