I think the point runinglate & I tried to make previously is that, of the 8 Desmond League teams left in the draw in the Desmond/Clare/ Kerry section, 6 are playing each other.
As he said it extremly lessens our leagues chances of having teams progress further as Newcastle West did last year.

As for liam being one of the best refs.he must be a friend of yours or your lookin for him to do your team a favour. Cos from what I saw yesterday he owes Pallaskenry an apology.
You say your from Kilcornan and now you say you follow Newcastlewest for years, and as spotted by nathonbrown all your post are about Kildimo or Pallaskenry,id say you would tell a fair one after a few pints,if Pallas were bad over the wend take it on the chin, there is always next weekend,as for Liam, drama would def.come to mind, whatever he does at home is none of our business, but he is far from the worst.

How can u say liam is not one of the worst.who is worse ?.I am from kilcornan. Not born and breed here.but here 27 years.but what has that got to do with anything. I love going to the Pallaskenry and kildimo matchs.there is great banter between them.

On a serious note though I think the lack of new referee's is a bigger problem and probably leads to some staying on longer than they should out of neccessity

    I like that.

In fairness I think that the referee's are actively seeking new lads to come on board.

I think the major problem is (correct me if I'm wrong) that you have to cut any official involvement with a soccer club.
Meaning that if you play soccer on a Sunday (junior) you are not allowed to start refereeing underage games on a Saturday.

In my opinion this is the only way we will be able to breed new referees by giving young lads still playing soccer the opportunity to earn a few pound on a Saturday.
If I had the opportunity to earn 65-70 euro on a Saturday while I was in college I would have jumped at the opportunity. I think this is out of the referees control.

I would also like to state that I think personal remarks should not be levied at anyone on this site, question someones performace be it player, manager , referee. But lets not make it personal. Oldman thinks liam had a bad game Sunday fair enough, Pallaskenry probally had a bad game too. Move on bring on next Sunday.

I think Abbey got to last 16 or last 8 maybe around 2002 or so, which was the best ever run in the FAI by a Desmond side, but I'm open to correction on that.

There was a few young refs a couple of seasons ago and they were fairly good. They seem to have disappeared now though.
In relation to oldmans take on Liam O'Connor. I was at that match vs itas. He was ok the only decision he got wrong was to send off the pallas player for a collision with moxey. Other than that it was standard Liam with the shouting. I get over that because at least he knows the rules unlike some

St itas reached the last 8 of the munster junior cup lost to clonmel town. Askeatin got to munster junior cup final back un the 80's Donie Gorman was on that team. As mentioned Abbey reached last 16 in fai early 00's beaten by a dublin team

I always find it strange when teams don't enter the FAI. Gives you the chance of s day out and for teams like us in the lower leagues. It gives us a chance to play better teams with no pressure on

Askeaton beating Abbey was a giant killing shock alright and apparently it was well deserved anyone at it. They could be on the way back lads.

Bridge 0-5 Killeaney, not sure how accurate this result is but that's what I was told.
