Second half was much more open as Wexford went with two up front with Ben joining Danny up front. On five minutes, Lasty got a yellow for handball off a cross about a yard outside the box. With ten gone, Craig Wall crossed from the right and Danny's first-time half-volley went about a yard over. A minute later, Craig got a yellow for a late tackle on a clearing Galway defender. With 17 gone, Shanahan of Galway headed over at the far post after a bouncing cross from the left reached him. Wexford then created a really good chance when Ben was sent clear down the left but Gleeson got down to knock his effort away. Lasty then had a header over for Wexford and, midway through the half, Ryan Manning came on for Molloy of Galway. With fifteen minutes to go, a controversial incident occurred when Galway crossed into the box and Graham punched away leaving a Galway attacker prone inside Wexford's box with the ball falling to a Galway player in midfield. Ref stopped the game and checked on the Galway player who thankfully was ok and then handed the ball back to Graham. Graham smacked the ball down the pitch where it was headed on to leave Danny running at Gleeson who clearly took him down inside the penalty area. Ref immediately pointed to the spot but then ran over to the linesman and after consultation changed it to a drop-ball presumably on the basis that Wexford should have or were trying to give the ball back to Galway
